Well we had a pretty sweet crew show up at Broughton's bluff. Everyone got some sweet pitches in. The fun came later. We headed down to the picknic area and within a few beers(minutes) the "ranger" showed up and said we had 10 minutes. We frantically threw our meat on the fire and burned the shit outta the outside of our dawgs and burgers and had a nice ebola inside. One of my burgers wasn't cook so I scraped it across the grill and we picked pieces of the carnage off the grill w/our fingers. BTW, all this was done with the help of my parking brake handle (the flipper and scraper). Anyway, we forged a path down to the river and sat around and drank on the shore. Then some local boys did broadies in the parking lot for at least 20 minutes. Good show! The lights of the city (Sharis Sign and passing trains) lit up the evening as homeless guys tried to get beers, smokes, and rides from us. One homeless guy was nice enough to offer us some beans in his boot. This may be the start of a PDX Bum Club tradition. Seriously, it was Ghetto! Hope you had a nice b-day Pete!

so where are you gonna hook us up with your hot alpinsts harem?

I'm not good enough to post in a skiing related thread. I'm more offended by ashw_justin thinking i was a PDX local. I am held here against my will. I am a Bellingham boy and will make my prophetic return in two weeks or less. Behold the return of the king (of alpine failures).

A single dude arguing this to a married dude... I'm mum on this subject, if I knew what I was talking about I'd be married with kids already. That assumes you WANT to be married w/children.

Today in gross lab, I cut off a dead man's penis and filet'd it like a fish . Now there's a lil' mushroom sprout rolling around on the gurney. I am scarred for life. p.s. the prosection equipment is by Bobbet Industries. how funny is that? actually it's not. this is just awful. i am going to hell.

Guys, Ask about exercise programs and you will get an infinite amount of diff exercises and opinions about how much/often to lift. Here are some rules of thumb 1.exercise all your muscle groups at about 12-15 reps to maintain general fitness 2-3 sets. 2.find your weaklinks and do lifts of light weights with lots more reps 3.your important muscles for climbing and hiking are your upper body pulling in and down muscles. You lower are your pushing muscles (i.e. the muscles used in squats and toe raises) 4.to get stronger use a high enough weight that you fail in around 3 reps. do a lot of these (like 6 sets) 5.to get more endurance (this is the debated area) exercise more frequently and longer 6.to balance your body core exercises are CRITICAL. These msls are your Abs, adductors, hip flexors for your lower body, and your ext. rotators, lat flexors (your pushing up and out msls) 7.to train for your sport, the more you simulate it at extereme conditions, the better you will be. Try doing exercises that are climbing specific like HOLD YOUR LIFTS ISOMETRICALLY at the point of maximum resistance in a contraction. 8.Cardio? Go trail running or biking uphill for at least an hour. can't? get on something inside and go at least 65% of your max HR for 45 or more. The harder you push and longer you go the better. Too hard and too long lead to injury, but the bottom line is work the shit out of your heart. Your heart is the BOTTOM LINE when it comes to fitness. How often? The more you go to the gym the better. twice a weak for weights, twice a week for cardio for improving fitness is the minimum. does that help?

I tried to solo it but from the w.side of the peaks they all look like little blobs with tons of passes so I got very disoriented (no names on the maps). After I got to a pass and looked around, no e.ridge looked very appealing at all so I just dicked around the mtns instead.

can you get aviation forecasts, and if so, are the legible to a layperson?
-
any bridges nearby? I-90 would be a good simulation of not wanting to fuck up. a rock wall would work if there's a tree about 15 yards back from the top.

Like always, accuweather has a positive forecast weather.com has a negitive forecast. Unless it's raining pretty good around 4pm, I'm still showing w/gear,beer,charcoal and meat (for ME. brting your own crap).

You can see the peaks from the baker hwy. Just take a quick scenic drive to find out conditions. as with any peak in the PNW it can come in to condition whenver it has snow and cold temps. No it's not a serious ice route, but fun! Actually the W,ridge of the N.Twin is an AWESOME winter mixed climb. not hard, but full on crampons and tools scratchin' ice and rock. also to the left of the W.ridge of the N.twin there are a couple 1-2 pitch Wi3-4 flows that seem to form regularly.
