    summitpost?

I can't see the picture, but I assume it's from GuitarBitch's profile. I did notice that we have a new member from back east GuitarWizard(Bitch). A warm welcome to you GuitarBitch. The world of CC is a friendly warm place where people help each other and really care about the other posters. I'm sure you will love the friendly people you meet here.
  2. Shitty weather, bad snow, and extreme skinning over snow/logging slash. It really doesn't get any better!! Nice to meet you Jordop! At least the company was good; better luck next time. [ 04-22-2002, 07:28 AM: Message edited by: AlpineK ]
  3. Lets not confuse ourselves too much. 4/23 Pub Club is at the Alki or Owl and Thistle Future pub clubs might be held at Fiddlers ect, but the jury is still out. I'm thinking Alki this Tuesday. [ 04-21-2002, 07:36 PM: Message edited by: AlpineK ]

Umm, and I guess the Fiddler's. Coopers has this trivia thing going on on tuesdays, so I don't think that will work. I don't know much about the Shanty, Fidlers, or the Back Door. maybe we could check them out. quote.. What about the elesian (sp?) on capitol hill. It's big enough and is non smoking. We have been to smoking bars lately What are you some kind of wimp? I'm so healthy la la la. I would think about the Elesian, but it seems like given the croud that shows up there already that CC would put things over the top. Besides the Capitol hill scene is so over; maybe if this were the early 90's...
  5. Ok it's time once again to fight about where we are drinking. We are going to be drinking in Seattle next week the only question is where. We need a spot that can handle about 30 people; because of that I don't want to hear random names of bars. In fact I think at this point with the turnouts we've had any new spot should be scoped by a group of cc folks. (I for one can be talked into drinking most days of the week) It would be nice to get a spot in NE Seattle, but lets research it first. What I think this means for 4/23 is we should either drink at the Owl and Thistle or the Alki. I'm more in favor of the Alki since we haven't been there in a while. Lets have a nice clean fight.

  7. I guess I've pushed your buttons F. You should try having a German last name; you'll have a thick skin in no time especially if all your friends are jackasses. I get the feeling reading your posts that you like many people think that scientists have a political agenda just like politicians. Everyone has some sort of political belief, but I can tell you, from my experience in science classes, anyone doing research puts a high value on correctly interpreting data and making logical arguements. Yes there are those who cheat, but eventually they get exposed. If you read the report above you would see that there is lots of evidence to support the idea that no one was trying to cheat on the Lynx study. I don't think you read it, and I think you responded with a knee jerk reaction based on you political beliefs.

On the other hand there are folks like me who just say DUH and go tearing off up the mountain instead of thinking about the potential or likely consequenses of taking a whipper, am I going to get avalached on, do I have enouogh pro (or too much)etc etc. Grasshopper must learn to think before climby. oh well, ignorance is bliss I don't mean you shouldn't have information and knowledge, but there comes a time when you have to stop thinking and just say duh. Duh
  9. Last night at the Ballard Grill a bunch of climbers got together. We drank a bunch of beer and talked a bunch of smack. Sayjay and Dave Parker brought some cool photos. I didnt see any pubing, but I wasn't watching Dave S all the time. After a fun evening we all went home. At least I hope you all made it home safe. I've gotta say god damn there were a lot of people out last night. The list I have goes like this: Chris W, To The Top, Wayne1112, Lizard Brain, Ehmmic, Scott, Sayjay, AlpineK, Mike R, Special Ed, Allison, Mattp, Rey Burbon, Wallstein, Ron Jeremy, Lwya(?), xoxo(?), Erik, v, Jon, Matt, Dwayner, ChucK, 009, Dave Schultz, Gerg, Sirwit, Dave W, Lori the Lurker Also Mattp's friend Diane dropped by, and lets not forget Fred Beckey. So the Ballard Grill and Ale House is a good spot for 30 plus people to get together. In the future when we are fighting about location let's keep this in mind. We didn't pick a spot for next week, but I think it might be time to head to West Seattle and the Alki.
  10. Yes Fairweather. The mountain steward program is all about enforcement. In fact the government is building a road so that mountain stewards can drive to the base of the glacier and check peoples permits. Uncooperative climbers will be taken to jail where they will be sodomized as punishment. Also those black helicopters really do exist. Since I like the environment, and therefore am part of the secret new order created by the UN, I can tell you that your movements are being tracked. You will be put down soon. It's too late to run that's why I'm telling you. The above might be true, or maybe I don't know anything about Mountain Stewards.

  12. I've read too many posts where the poster has been thinking way too much for their own good; also I've met a lot of people who think so much they psych themselves out of climbing. I think we all need to get in touch with our inner idiot. Ok take a deep breath and exhale slowly while saying Duhh.... One more time Duhh... Their are so many ways you can use this simple philosophy in your life. Duh
  13. I would say that climbing is an individual sport. We all have our own goals and thus our own role models. Therefore I find having a debate about who's bad ass to be silly; something that should be in People Mag. (or R&I) Lynn Hill is no doubt a good climber, but this debate is stupid.
  14. Tom I'm in your camp, but the point I was trying to make to Fairweather (knee jerk Anti Environmet Nazi) is that even if they were guilty the checks and balances in scientific research would have caught their attemt to cheat long before any restrictive action happened.
  15. I thought I'd bring this up top.
  16. Who gives a shit who's more bad ass. I'm sure R&I or climbing has or will cover this topic.
  17. Ballard Grill and Ale House 4300 Leary Way Seattle, WA Mapquest would be a good resource for those of you who don't know your way around Seattle. Hint. The Bar is across from Hale's Brewery

    bar poll

These polls suck. The idea was for each area (Seattle, Tacoma, Eastside) to pick a spot to drink, but now we have people from Tacoma picking the Seattle site, and I think that's bullshit. I guess we'll talk about this tomorrow, but I hope we don't use these polls again.

  22. We've been through this. I don't wat to play trivia, and I don't think anyone else does. I think we should meet at: Ballard Grill and Ale House 4300 Leary Way NW Seattle, WA
