how did the ice cliff go??
One of the two of us was not feeling up to climbing the Ice Cliff so one of us opted to climb the Sherpa Glacier by himself.
-
Nice tr, it brings back memories of when Roboboy and I climbed it a couple of years ago.
-
As of Sunday PM the tree had been removed. There were two 4WD vehicles parked 100 yards from the TH.
-
Exit 38 - Substation and Write Off rock have a number of climbs in that range that can be top roped.

Partner found, thanks for looking!
-
Still looking. Beginner or expert, I'm not picky.

Hi Rob,
To climb with you I could take a day off mid week. How is the knee coming along? BTW, I hear your awesomeness springs from a deep well of humility.

Excellent, that's what I was hoping to hear.
I'm told by a guide friend that snow cover will make my rock protection pretty much useless on those climbs. Can ya'll (guess where I'm from?) confirm that for me? My partner and I are bringing six pickets between us to protect the snow-covered areas. Should that be enough?
Is it worth bringing more than a couple ice screws? I've got a 22cm for v-threads and a 16cm "just in case."
If you are doing the standard routes on those peaks you can definitely get by with no rock pro, no screws and a couple of pickets.

Weather is looking great for the weekend!

people should leave other peoples shit alone regardless of their spelling habits
Nobody took the quick draws because they knew the owner had a 3rd grade education. They took the quick draws because they assumed they were abandoned. Honest mistake I am sure.

And if there were points for grammar and spelling....

Hello,
I am hoping to head into the mountains this weekend. If the weather is good I'd like to do something on Rainier or maybe ski something at Cascade Pass. If the weather is inclement I'd like to do something on the east side, maybe ski up Little Annapurna or climb Ice Cliff Glacier. I am open to ideas and very suggestable. If interested email bighurtbob@hotmail.com.

The leader was a rotund gentleman
I applied to the Mountaineers but they did not let me in. Seems I did not meet their minimum weight requirements.

I used a 15 degree bag on Hunter, but that was early June. I wore MH Chugach pants and a big down parka layered over the top of the bag. It worked out well. I think a 0 degree bag should be fine.

i've been wondering, was he born 'stim bullitt" or was that a nom de guerre or somethign? a totally badass name for a badass climber!
I briefly dated a gal who was Stim's god daughter. She referred to him as "Stimmy". Decidedly less bad ass.

If one skis the Reid or Leutholds is it possible to just bare hard left and make it back to T-line, without having to boot it?
I think you would have to boot it back up to Illumination Saddle. Maybe I'm wrong though.

if you have ideas for helping raise the cash to buy the place for climbers (perhaps eventually ending up as a state park with protections to preserve climbing), please share them.
Has anyone looked into doing a Transfer of Development Rights? There are a number NGOs (Cascade Land Conservancy comes to mind) as well as the County that might be willing to pay for the development rights, thus devalueing the land enough to be purchased for park land or whatever. Just a thought.

FYI - Gib Ledges was in pretty good shape weekend before last.
-
Your best bet given the short time frame is to go with a guide. Try RMI, AAI, IMG, OMG, WTF or any of the other guide services that have concessions on Rainier.

I have always used Talkeetna Shuttle. $100 round trip. Not sure if they are still in business though...

What I find interesting about this thread is what it says about the folks posting. Some folks obviously like alpine rock, some cragging, others like alpine climbs.
