  5. that would be awesome man lol i need a bit of experience sadly, im going down hopefully and doing the old chute, ive read up on the cooper spur and its just steep nothing super hard right?
  6. I'm trying to figure out the same. I'm trying to go up the north ridge but a friend of mine said the road might be washed out. The north roads are harder to get to the TH. snow has been melting but it's still young in spring.
  7. Hey everyone I had plans to go down to hood and do the south side the last Friday and Saturday in may, maybe Sunday. But plans didnt work out. If anyone is heading down I'd ask if I can join. I'm in tacoma Wa. I got all the necessary gear, it's just the weather would be the factor down there. Send me a PM if you are interested in having a climbing partner Thanks!
  8. Being roped may restrict you a bit I feel. You may Need two tools or at least two ice axes to make sure you are Placed well on the slope. My friend did it last month and he said That it was 50 degree. The thing that would worry me is the traverse from the chute to the true summit. He said it was 4 feet. With wind it would be sketchy but make sure to place and hold your feet when you cross over
  9. Trip: Mt St Helens 2013 - Worm Flows Spring Climbing: Date: 5/12/2013 Trip Report: Hey! Im back again with another session of Mt. St Helens! 2nd Summit of the season! Glad to have been back! In march, it was harder and i was not feeling good. This time i felt great and amazing! Glad to have gone back and triumphed! I went with a climbing buddy from CC. I usually stop a lot but im glad i did not. A good hard push can help you a lot. Made the summit around 5 hours. About 650 permits were issued on the 11th. I did not count 650 on the summit, but there might have been 150 on the summit. Good Weather and light winds made it awesome! Another great climb and looking forward to a lot more climbing the summer! Me and my climbing buddy James! the iconic photo Summit with crater and lava dome! a lot of snow has melted since March All of my climbing will be in memory of the great John Koehler! me on my way up! Ridges are melted out! i would take these over the steep snow Gear Notes: standard gear, ice axe for glissading down, crampons for early ascent Approach Notes: Marble Mtn Sno-Park. Climbers Bivouac will be open in June
  10. I was up there yesterday. Lots of snow has melted, and you can pretty much say that the monitor ridge route is just about open for business. We were scrambling across rocks on the ridge. Don't bring skis, there just gonna be a hassle on the way up. Coming down there are some nice glissading chutes. Weather has been good but do look to check the weather a lot, bring windproof jacket. Darren

  13. they usually start using it late may into june. They will wand the ID and possibly go out onto the cleaver and see when it can be routed to the top Darren
  14. No new updates. I'm sure it'll be till June till the rangers go in and Scope out the area and see if they can deem it safe to hike And climb Darren
  15. when the roads start melting out hopefully they'll go in and access the route and land. i dont think they will permanently close it but they may restrict access or re route the whole south side climb, there is another way but it is a longer approach. im definitely keeping tabs on it cause i got my eye on adams summit this summer ha
