  1. Whoa! Awesome trip report, Chris and John!! I cannot believe those beers where still there. Great photos, John! You haven't changed at all, Chris! Can't wait to see you again! DUDE...AUGUST for sure!
  2. LOL! You got a good point there. I did meet a few very nice, honest guys... the nerve of them.
  3. Hey Zen! AWESOME! Also go to the Leavenworth Mt Association meetings where you'll meet lots of climbing folks! Hey, just a little caution: be VERY wary of seemingly nice "gentlemen" climbers on this forum (especially from your town)--their intentions are less than honorable. You're a big girl, but just consider yourself warned.
  4. [font:Comic Sans MS]BICKITY BAM!!! OK... if you're interested in 5.fun, single pitch cragging stuff along the Icicle this week--July 16 - 20--(early morning), send me a PM. I have a new rope and all the making's for a bomber anchor. If you're new to climbing, GREAT! We'll work on technique and stuff. Requirements: Shoes, harness, and happy, positive, fun attitude! (I have an extra chalk bag and belay device..GriGri)[/font]
  5. Cardinal sin: I bought them too big of a size. GREAT shoes, and great reviews! CLIMB LIKE A SQUIRREL IN THESE!! I have ONLY worn them 2x (less than a 5 hours bouldering). The slingshot heel is effin AWESOME! I'm selling the 971 Mirua's, size 39 (new they're 159.95+tax), for 100.00--which INCLUDES shipping and handling!). I now have a 37 and I'm in love with them! I don't have a PayPal account, PM me and we can work out details.
  6. Damn....I may be too late.... Is everything gone??? PM sent too!
  7. Rene Zellweger as "Ruby" in Cold Mountain. People tell me I look a little like RZ. I'm kinda a little like Ruby...." I despise a floggin' rooster."
  8. That's awesome! Oh I totally believe you! We had some operators go and make a decent wage.....plus some is tax free. But for someone with no experience out of high school, 160K is not too shabby.
  9. Hey Rob, I'd like to echo John F's post-- good "food for thought" and are really important considerations. I'm a certified fitness trainer and nutritional coach with ISSA (mainly for fun, not my main job), so I've seen that using a holistic approach works the best. You already know what the recommendations are. For me ** and I'm very anal about my approach to nutrition** I get between 1.5 and 2 grams of protein per pound body weight. I weigh and measure food when I get close to a competition (I even have a food scale at work). Also, I will cycle my carbohydrates; that is as my protein consumption goes down I will up the carbs a bit, and visa versa. When I don't get enough quality protein, my lifts will stagnate but I also have to pay attention to my carb intake (carbs in the form of oatmeal, rice, vegetables, some fruit)--I won't have the energy to lift really hard. I'm endomorphic: I don't have a problem keeping muscle but fat likes to stay on my body so I have to watch my carbs. I learned this over many years for me. I cannot eat anything I want, even though I may bike 100 miles or backpack 15 miles in a day. For years I said timing of protein is an important element. You probably all know about the "window" of consuming protein with a simple carb after training (I won't got into detail about pre and post workout meals here). However, there is research declaring that you needn't be concerned about the timing of protein consumption...just get what you need throughout the day. Maybe John F has some experience with this and like to share?
  10. Thanks Bucky Buck!! We'll do Vantage one of these Mondays! I LOVE BEING BACK HOME!! Also, if anyone cares to keep in contact via to FB, I'm on as "Destiny Determined" --only cool, positive, happy people though. MY FACEBOOK LINK
  11. Thanks Bud! Hope you make tons of money...it will be an adventure! You do know that the oil and gas field is starving for engineers? Conoco is posting 50 jobs for engineers this summer. people in the industry cannot find engineers! BP the same.... Baker hughes just opened positions. LOADS of jobs in Canada. My friend just got picked up..no experience but a hell of a test. Starting at 160K..no shit!
  12. Thanks, Rad! Definitely will check it out.
  13. The day has arrived!! I moved from Interior Alaska to central Washington. *Once you make a decision the universe conspires to make it happen* If anyone wants to get together this summer, I'm off until April 30th, PM me and we can exchange information/ backgrounds. Then I'm off May 15 - 27; June 12-24; July 10- 22. I plan to start leading this summer and fortifying my rack, but I've had a few years of a layoff so got to get back into the Climbing Steeze so need to take 'er slow... 5.9 ish stuff.
  14. JOHN!! Whoa! Super BadAss!! That is so AWESOME and thrilled about your accomplishments! This is such a super state to visit! Thanks for sharing those super photos... loving it! Working right now off the Beaufort Sea is another story. LOL. 20 below, blowing snow with howling winds of 55 MPH, windchill of 48 below.
  15. Well, now... that's just scary, OW. Uh, thanks for the "welcome home" though.
  16. Oops. Well, really, that's just my and Rob's sweet talk. :kisss:
  17. Heh.... For some reason this Forum Title make me think, "Circle jerk." No offense to hippies who play drums in a circle. Peace. *Scampers off"
  18. No, now fuck off.
  19. Whoa..WHO, prey tell, is that? That is one of the hottest guys ever. Look at his haul bag. Wow....
  20. I like the dynamite idea. Tax dollars well spent.
  21. I'm so with you, Rob, on the Mountaineers....nice folks, not my brand, tho. Plus, for me, I tend to lean the ways of a maverick. Self taught with some pointers from intelligent local climbers is a great way to go for some folks. I'm rather friendly and outgoing so I ask ANYONE I come into contact with if they climb and send out personal emails to folks (just got back from trip no 1 in Leavenworth--met several cool folks, too). For me, I like to make it a win-win experience for everyone. I offer to drive the or pay for all gas and use my new rope instead of theirs in exchange for a bit of teaching. <--- Also AAI has a leading course.....anyone do any of their courses? BTW, I sleep with Freedom of the Hills. under my pillow. Osmosis DOES work!
  22. i'm sure pink would disagree w/ you - luckily i don't think he hangs out in the bacon forum Pink's always great for entertainment value, however.
  23. TR's padded with lookouts or not, you ALL are BadAsses in my little book, FWIW. We have to have a meet up in Leavenworth this spring/summer!!! Just took my first trip to Leavenworth last weekend to drop off my first load of gear. Had an awesome time seeing old friends and meeting new ones! Back in Alaska now and will return in April for the finale! Woohoo!
