  2. Gardner - I emailed you back All - barring any changes in my class schedule, I am planning on taking 10 days off in September (15-25 or so) to climb rainier and some other peaks (baker, shuksan). Let me know if this works for anyone and they want to join the adventure!
  3. So I am looking to get into ski touring this winter and was wondering if someone could give me a little advice on a good set of skis, boots, and bindings for the beginning ski tourer. I skied for many years when i was younger, all inbounds stuff of course. Thanks for the help!

  9. Rab Super Dru Jacket hardshell jacket, size small. Worn a handful of times, it is in brand new condition. MSRP approximately $325 asking $225. PM if your interested or email me at leydetd@gmail.com
  10. As far as books go, Freedom of the Hills is a must for learning all the essential systems for climbing mountains like Rainier. For a guidebook i would recommend buying Mt. Rainier 'A Climbing Guide' from the Mountaineers. It does a great job of describing and showing you possible ascent and descent routes. If it is your first time on rainier i would recommend the disappointment cleaver or ingraham direct (depending on conditions) route to the summit. Fairly straight forward, minimum objective hazards. I am not to familiar with Mt Hood, but i hear its more of a challenge than meets the eye! Hopefully you can get out with some experienced climbers or guides to practice some of the essentials before attempting your climb. Hope this helped you out some!

  13. the time has come for me to move out the area which saddens me. I know this is cascadeclimbers.com, but does anyone know of any good climbing areas in Georgia?
  14. i found the Steck article inspiring also. Such dedication and training for alpinism. Great short film though on the Love Letter. Would love to get out to the sierras
  15. Lots of dry rock to be had! I spent some time at easy street, a couple wet spots but not too bad. I would avoid gritstone, still a little slick. Interstate park = awesome!
  16. i am also pretty new to the sport, I have been "geeking" out on the sport for about a year now and I am looking for a partner to tackle some of the smaller mountains (and crags) as the weather gets nicer. shoot me an email, leydetd@gmail.com, if your interested in setting some stuff up
