Trip: Index Chimney Spectacular - Index Chimneys Date: 10/18/2010 Trip Report: So Mark and I did a number of routes at Index, and I was thinking today that 4 out of the 6 had some sort of chimney or off-width which is weird for Index and was a complete coincidence except for the fact that I like them. So we warmed up in low 40 degree temps on Sagittarius. Nice little warm up. Mark wasn't feeling it so I cleaned on rap. Then we went searching for Private Idaho. I had been there before but we ended up at the top of Lookout Point, which was interesting in and of itself. We descended and found Hag Crag by accident. We could see Private Idaho but were lured into Hag Crag Crack a dirty 5.7 with a cool chimney feature. Mark tried but ran out of the right size of gear so I fired her off. Definitely dirty and only recommended for the adventurous. On rappel we noticed a sport line that looked pretty clean. Mark fired it off on top rope. I wanted to lead it, but the line is really weird. It basically shares a bolt with a 5.11d instead of following the obvious line. I wasn't feeling it so we moved on. We were going to go straight to Magic Fern but saw Battered Sandwich, a sweet off-width to chimney and had to send it. It was sweet and I will go back and do it again. Then it was time for Magic Fern, which went great. Then back to Senior Citizens in Space. Incredible climbing and weather. But dang I'm sore today. Sorry no pics. Here's an old one. for 99 bucks, for the next 15 minutes. This is a pretty awesome deal. Can't speak for these boots in particiular but I have limited experience with the Radikal Rock's. steepandcheap Kinda limited sizes but there are large sizes and smaller sizes.

Proud first climb in the Enchantments. Then again, mine was Serpentine Arete. Good times. And ya, one rope is more than enough (or just enough).

To a liberal ridicule is the only way to get people to side with them. I know what you're saying, but it's hard to apply our standard today to those of his time. In fact... This video has No credibity because of just that.

Alright, my bad. You're right. America never should have happened. Big mistake. Terrible country (all in sarcastic voice). I mean, if you don't think Columbus should have discovered the new world FOR what was then "Western Society" it is as if you hate America, IMO, because you are wishing it away. Or you're an idealist who somehow wishes you could go back and change things. But if history teaches us anything it is that bad things almost always accompany any sort of positive change. Unless you think America is completely a waste...then I ask...why live here? These are my thoughts, ignore them if you wish.

More than most of us will do, in terms of significance. Just sayin. I just think the video is BS. Lots of claims based on emotional ties to racism, slavery, ect that aren't necessarily connected to the truth. ...but something tells me kevbone knows this...

For those that didn't watch the video, here is a synopsis- "We hate America!" Lets call this what it is- reverse racism. The guy discovered America for crap's sake. Give the guy some credit. My Gosh this country is fucked up.

The less I pay for something the more I want to use it for some reason. 15$ target gloves lasted a whole season of abuse and I was rarely cold. Not to say there aren't wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better options. Just if people are looking to cut corners in anywhere in the cascades, gloves can be the place to do that. And as the OP mentioned- gloves can be pricey! I'd rather have a nice puffy than nice gloves. But this is a glove thread so I'll stay on topic. I'm sure there are lots of other opinions on this topic as well.

Just did it solo for the first and last time today. The potential for loose rock is just too tangible. I updated some of the alpine rap stations as well (out of necessity).
