Kevbone and his girlfriend share a special moment at the Van Halen concert.
  2. Really? Those aren't even pictures of wide cracks. They're pictures of your dog and some old dude's socks.
  3. I think hot air ballooning would be a pretty safe way to travel also. I might like to have an all black balloon with a pirate insignia, a jolly roger, on it. But a balloon with a lot of colorfull stripes would be cool too.
  4. I moonwalk. Its safe and it looks cool.
  5. Have you done the third pitch of Reed's Direct? I don't remember much except that is was hard and akward and difficult to protect.
  6. Wait a second? Are you trying to say Olyclimber is that good?
  7. Your question is not legitimate because it assumes that simul-climbing is always more dangerous than pitched-out climbing, which it isn't. The repercussions for a fall may be more serious, but that is different. In addition, as I stated earlier any answer given is completely subjective. It is like asking whether Peter Croft soloing the Rostrum is worth the risk. Obviously it was for him at the time, just as rock climbing in general is for you. I don't see an issue worth discussion.
  8. Yes. hah!! that's all ya got or its it sooo short cause you don't know how to answer a legit question without spraying? ok let me rephrase that for ya. Is it worth the "RISK"? I now it is worth it for speed. Risk is subjective. Safety is subjective. What is safe for you may not be safe for someone else, and vice-versa. Whether a rope team chooses to employ the tactic of simul-climbing is a subjective decision involving many factors, including personality, the situation, and skill level. Climbing is inherently dangerous, why draw an arbitrary line declaring that leading with a rope is safe and simulclimbing inherently is not? Clearly, many pitches climbed with a belay were more dangerous than other pitches or even the same pitches climbed in simul-climb style, or even as a free solo by other parties. Therefore, your question is inherently not legitimate.
  9. Yes.
  10. it might be true that its hopeless now, but i bet we could have made it work in 2002 if we'd been willing to put the level of resources in that we used instead on satan hussein - if we'd rolled the dice and come up w/ a 1 in a million statesman like gandhi it coulda gone too, but the hand we're holding now is plainly a loser so let's fold and go get a late dinner n' a fancy drink, eh? If only we had the army that we wish we had.
  11. i don't actually know jay's take on afghanistan but i'd like to hear it - he's obviously a very logical guy pat (speaking of "pat answers" ), but as you say, mcnamara was able to give voice to the problems of logic vs emotion near the end of his life - afghanistan certainly feels wrong to me - how does it feel to you jay? I supported the invasion and our efforts to kill all members of Al Queda present there, displace the Taliban, and establish a civil framework that the population could at the very least have a chance to use to construct a government upon that was substantially less primitive, backwards, and barbarous than the Taliban. I don't think that it will be possible to turn Afghanistan into anything remotely resembling a modern, prosperous, stable democracy so we'll probably have to settle for something far less than that, call it good, and disengage while retaining the capacity to attack and kill Al-Queda or whoever else shares their goals and tactics when the opportunity to do so arises. Something more ambitious might have been possible in other circumstances, and with less feckless and uncommitted allies and more partners like Canada and the UK, but that's clearly not in the cards at this point unless the Afghans themselves make it so. So in other words our effort was doomed from the start.
  12. Jesus seems like a nice guy and all, but I think its just a little weird that he became a zombie.
  13. So much more technilogically advanced that a hat. They keep your head cool and ventilated, yet protect your face from harmful sun rays and other weather-related elements. Plus, if you also get chaco sandles and some Croakies sunglass holders, everyone will know you're a guide.

  15. Climbing is dangerous.
  16. If you really knew Aramaic, you'd know it's Yeshua, not "jeebus". And it's really interesting how you always insist on bringing His Name into just about any topic. Makes you wonder. Just saying. KKK do you have little fish emblem on the back of your minivan with the funny writing in it?
  17. Maybe you can sand down the edges on your wife's new treadmill.
