I liked the name Gothic for the area but the people have spoken. Will the whole area be called Coethedral now or will there still be a different name for the area? Who had the fourth ascent of Salathe Highway? After our ascent with Ujahn, I heard Plaidman did it with Rhonda and Rick which is very cool. Thanks for saving the chimney route for me up there but I must say I was a little sad to see the other chimney get ticked - I guess that's actually good bc I can climb it when I come out.

Thanks Bill but you're too kind. Just bought my plane ticket to PDX. I'll b around from 7/18 - 8/4. We gotta plan a day to do "The Witches Chimney aka Upskirt" and I'd like to do a day at Gothic Rocks to just climb if that's allowed - maybe camp there.

So I walk into The Dark Horse to meet some people and on my way in, BEFORE drinking any alcohol, decide to use the restroom. There are two doors side by side; one reading MEN, the other WOMEN. So I naturally choose the door marked MEN and go inside. After entering I pass two women who are leaving, but for whatever reason I don't register this as a problem so I continue in further to find a urinal but do not find one. At this, I realize I have made a mistake and do not belong there. I don't know why seeing two women inside wasn't enough of a clue but they didn't seem suprised to see me either so that's probably as good an excuse as any. So I leave and sure enough the door through which I had passed read MEN. The fine folks at The Dark Horse decided that they would paint MEN on a hand with an finger pointing at the men's room on the door to the women's restroom, and WOMEN on a hand with an finger pointing at the women's restroom on the door to the men's room. I find this difficult even to type, let alone to process in the split second that my brain has to identify which bathroom is the appropriate one.

True enough, but the fact that they won't close the tourist trail (the proper action) doesn't mean they're going to grant climbers a second exception to the rule. Our numbers as a 'user group' are wholly irrelevant outside of the injustice of your emotional tumult. Why not grant a second exception, the first doesn't seem to be doing any harm?

This tent has 2 separate 2-person rooms with a center room for gear storage or sleeping more people. It has the spider-hub style poles and one pole has a small dent that prevents it from completely inserting into the hub - I set it up and it doesn't appear to harm it's funtion at all. Are you saying that I should stick the things in without climbing all the way up the ladder? - So, instead of putting the cam hook in and climbing up the ladder until my nards shrink up, I should place the hook and then place another one before climbing too high in my aiders? Doesn't need to be new or anything, just needs to be a big green cam in good shape with smooth trigger action and unkinked cables etc... Willing to buy or trade. I'm an electrician in Portland and could trade labor as well. Hopefully you bought one and it's been neglected in your gear closet after sending a few offwidths and deciding climbs that take #2's are way more fun

I have a green alien that I'd be willing to trade towards a Petzl mini traxion or a #6 wild country tech friend. Trigger action is smooth and lobes aren't mushy but it has been used. Pre-recall stamped 0802. You moved away from PDX didn't you? Where did you end up?

This routes was rap cleaned as it started out looking more like a garden than a cliff. The mound of dirt at the base is well over head height. And their are 2 60" plasma TV's sitting at the base as well. Who could resist a quick rope solo after a day of digging? This was the first lead of this route. I had abandoned the thought of doing it on gear last year but When I came back to aid Adam's Crack my ADHT distracted me into looking for gear on this route and it turned out their was just enough to justify doing the route. Then I couldn't resist completing the third and final route on the bare buttress in the original style. Do you guys go to the gym and use the hot tub/sauna/steam room in the locker room with the naked dues and tell them to put on some shorts? Or walk in and go ewwwwwww, you idiots are naked? Likely not (although it's not fun to see). I find a bunch of naked dudes sitting in a hot tub together more disturbing than my naked rockclimbing. Plus, I stand a way better chance of having a girl walk in than the nude tubbers do. Thanks Bill, Jim, and Jeff for a memorable day of climbing - you guys rock!

Well, I was thinking of a nude ascent of Nutcracker in May but it might be hard to find a partner. Also the first pitch would be a scary fall with clothes, I'd hate to see the rash from a nekid fall. Yeah, I think I'm done with naked climbing now that all three routes on the bare buttress are done... but we'll see. I still need to get the hi-res pics from Jeff Thomas for your viewing displeasure

Oh crap! I didn't know their was a pinnacle named Old Man. Plaidman and I named a pinnacle The Old Man last year.
