I believe that the military is but one asset in the fight. DA should take a back seat to nation building and political change. In Iraq, it is necessary to have [a] military presence so that these things can take place. (How many diplomats would come to help the process if they knew there were a 50% of being capped in the mellon?). It is not as simple as you all might think.

Actually Obama has not been clear. He stated that we would be out in 16 months, then said that getting out would be determinate on a "multitued of factors" How is this any different than McCain? Because he sugar coats it?

Is that why Senator McCain and Governor Palin will exclusively campaign together, with few if any independent appearances? She's the reason folks are going to Senator McCain's campaign events, not because of his riviting boring speeches and wining creepy smile. She's further proof of Senator McCain's efforts to elevate personal naratives and devisive cultural issues over substantive policy. Uhm... 1) She isn't running for the presidency. 2) According to the majority of posts on this site, Palin doesn't even talk to the media. How is this consistent with 'running the show?'

Mr. Steele was obviously in one of the provinces that were turned over to the Iraqis. He makes some good points and makes some incorrect assertions. IE Is is any better now than a year ago? "Probably not." WTF is that? Obviously a little research would have been prudent here. I think that the increase of Iraqi security is a good thing. It means that we can get them independent and get the fuck out of there.
