I, on the other hand, believe that being responsible with guns and gun legislation will enhance the public view point and therefore legislation to promote safe and responsible ownership of guns. The government supposedly cannot use them to fact find about "who owns what" but who knows the truth about the matter?

I am against increasing this interval as there has to be a limit. Every president says they are going to do this. If they keep doing this, eventually, the motivation to take a higher stress, higher hour job will lose its appeal as the salary is negligably better than middle management. Or, what will happen is what has already happened; Inflated salaries to offset the steadily increasing taxes payed by this group of citizens.

I have never purchased one without having a background check. This includes stores, private party, gun shows, ect. Look at the proportion of taxes in this country paid by the highest 2% richest people in this country. And to further increase that proportion? Actually, punishes the rich less would be the more accurate description. Also, Obama would also give tax rebates to the poor that are not working; a better word for this: Welfare. His desire to make the US classless, his trend toward communal ownership, to ensure that he follows his noble predecessors, he suggests that we should not have guns in our homes, ban handguns, ban almost all ammunition and many hunting weapons. It seems like he is more trying to relive the not-so distant past than actually create the egalitarian utopia suggested by Marx, Lenin et al.
