As Steve said, you will find adventure at Tieton! Depending on what level your climbing at, those routes that Joe P put up on goose egg look pretty sweet too! This time of year watch out for ticks and rattlesnakes.

Kev...the dihedral from ride the lightening is super obvious, so I always use that as a point of reference. If I remember correctly, the trail from the spring puts you near the base of dirty sanchez and ride the lightening. You sport or trad climbing or both? Moon rocks and royal columns have fun trad, haven't spent any time at wildcat wall but have been told good things. For sport for dream wall has some quality routes - don't think the newest ones are in the book but they are all right around the .10 range. If its melted out, check out the South Fork! Make sure to take pictures!

Weekend Avalanche, new snow accumulation concerns
kevino replied to Dan_Miller's topic in Climber's Board
i can attest from my own observations today that things were moving fairly easily...a little too easily in places. be careful folks, especially with the predicted warming and sunshine -
well sounds like most peoples' 20s tonights subject is way less cool - not. studying the best camera out there

Just a little food for thought from a non Seattle based person. I personally like not living in a city and enjoying a quieter life closer to the outdoors. With that said, I lived in Ellensburg for 6 years and on Snoqualmie Pass (Alpental) for another year. Ellensburg, similar to leavenworth and wenatchee, is east of the crest therefore having much more stable weather and a true four seasons. While Ellensburg isn't as close to the icicile/tumwater as leavenworth, we coould still get there in 50 minutes. 35 minutes to vantage, 60ish to tieton crags. The stuarts and snoqualmie pass are 50-70 minutes away, and bletwett is barely 30 minutes away for skiing. then you also have easy access up the teanaway and cle elum river roads, which provide more access to climbing (mountains and crags) and skiing. Snoqualmie pass is its own animal. I think its the highest elevation of year round residents in WA. Very small but close community. Skiing is some of the best in the state (i'm sure that'll fire people up) and lots of alpine climbing and trails to explore. With all that being said i'm moving to spokane this fall for grad school but look forward to the abundance of trails and crags in/near the city, good skiing in the nearby hills and the large canadadian and idahio mountains a short drive away. everything above is my opinion so enjoy and welcome to WA.

what part of the L5? spinous process? compression? one good thing about breaking the L5 is the spinal cord is turing into the cauda equina, and there are no major nerves that are responsible for innervating organs (those end at L2). there are of course the basic spinal nerves, which are important too
-
not sure if i've heard the term multiplexers, but there are plexuses, which are combinations of spinal nerves that serve various regions throughout the body. such as brachial plexus does the proximal limb, etc they are both way, so they serve as centers for both afferent and efferent systems, as are most nervous pathways
-
cns is the spinal cord there...then you can see the dorsal and ventral roots come together outside of the spinal cord and make the larger bulb there, then bifurcate into other pre and post ganglions
-
collection of neurons outside of the cns

i'm too busy spewing this actually

Trip: Washington - Cascades Date: 4/19/2012 Trip Report: With the change of weather and me starting grad school, I think I can say winter has ended for me. Looking back I had almost seven months of touring in new snow with new and old friends. Here is a quick look back at my 2011-12 winter. Thanks to all my ski partners. Thankfully we still have lots of snow up here in the PNW, so here's to a good spring and summer of touring. This season, as with most ski trips, started in a parking lot, with gear on the ground, drinking a beer, waiting for weather to clear Followed of course by copious amounts of skinning Sometimes early season conditions existed Other times the skin track was deep We would skin in stormy weather But then the weather would start to clear... And the views, like always, were spectacular Some Mornings we would start early... But as the soon as the sun started to come up... It was all worth it... Once at the top we could celebrate And enjoy the fruits of our labor Eye future goals... There is always those few moments where you are taking everything in before you drop in... But we came up here for a reason... Early season corn? early season pow skiing couloirs skiing new areas or returning to old favorites Hope everyone had a good season...always happy to ski with new and old friends. If you see me out there say hi. I usually have an extra beer in my pack the author, probably telling some bad story or joke

-
What were the exact dates you guys were up there? Before/during this last warm cycle? Wondering if the warm days over the weekend helped consolidate things a big as it starts to cool back down today/tonight... thanks

pindude, Thanks for the info. Always exciting to check out new aeras...are there any books that are worthwhile to pick up that talk about the aforementioned areas? The website you linked is interesting...seems like there are lots land use issues going on, but sadly the trip report area seems quite empty. thanks again. maybe we can get out skiing next winter
-
Hey Pindude, i'll be moving to spokane in september. I've been able to find some info on the rock climbing in the area and know where the resorts are, but how about backcountry skiing? How long does the season generally run? Whats good thats close and not so close? Thanks.

Have you ever toured in the dukes? How about dynafits? Night and fucking day difference. I've put in about 15 days of touring plus another 20 days in bounds with them. Touring they are worse than a fritschi and in bounds i feel their slop and hear them squeak with every turn. Their heel post is a joke and if you skin in wet snow at all putting them back into ski mode is a bitch. end rant. I'm sure they are great for some people but i used dynafits first and i cant get over how bad they tour.
