  1. What is the scoop on protecting the rock? Nelson mentions a 5.8 down climb into the second col. So there's more rock entering the third. Are they cracks that fill and freeze or can you find protection on the sides of the snow? Thanks a good read and trip report. (I think those are band aids on the icon)
  2. I'd love to get out for some climbing over the holiday weekend.... Send me a pm and we can try and chat about options. Cheers, Nick
  3. Hi, There seems to be some thick flows left in Icycle creek although everything was melting while we were there. The tops of narrow climbs may be hit and miss (video) but the wide, short climbs still look fun. Ice ranged from plastic-wet to porous white in sections of the same climb. Props to Chad for dry tooling and taking some great photos. Video from messing around off route [gvideo]-3263839139941470731[/gvideo]
  4. Anyone interested in trying a Mt Hood climb this weekend or next? I haven't checked on the weather/telemetry but could make it a ski trip it if it's poor.
  5. Great trip description Erik. Would it be redundant to say the snow was icy and the ice was snowy?! The crescent of an ice ax smacked three times against the snow (-(-(- must be a Japanese symbol for "anchorless!" Nice work dodging all that stuff. Here's a couple more photos...
  6. Anyone interested in backcountry skiing around Ingals/ Stuart peak in late Jan? Thanks, Nick
  7. Hi, After next week's cold weather, there should be some fun short ice climbing in Alpental. I would be interested in climbing here or to try Chair Peak if I can find a partner. Thanks, Nick
  8. I would be interested in trying Sandy Headwall one of these weekends. Thanks, Nick
