  1. Actually, we're re-fighting a perceived combination of Vietnam and WWII. That would be about 22 wars ago. We need to demilitarize. We're not under any real threat of invasion and we love war too much. Learn to read, moron. And BTW, we were never under any threat of invasion by Germany, Japan, or the USSR. None of them had any real capability to project a military force into the North American continent. In the case of the latter, the threat was nuclear war, not invasion. Ummm...complete bullshit. We won 2 major world wars in 4 years starting from near zero at that time. Contrast that to our entering Iraq and Afghanistan fully militarized and with an overwhelming military advantage over our enemies. After blowing 3 trillion dollars and six years, we're still losing both wars.
  2. Watch out! He be watchin!
  3. Massuh KKK be watchin' ah sorry asses, butt that ain' nothin' new!
  4. It's also interesting to note that, while Heston was protesting "Cop Killer", he was also fighting for the legality of teflon tipped, or "cop killer" bullets. He was a fucking douchebag of mythical proportions.
  5. From the NRA magazine editorials I've read, Heston was a propagandizing idiot pandering to an overly paranoid, xenophobic and essentially racist readership. Average white guys under threat? Give me a fucking break (and cry me a river, fucking whiners). I found nothing admirable in the man at that sorry stage of his life whatsoever.
  6. Alzheimer's. His later activism was just his way to do more with less.

  9. There's a pair of well used but still awesome Quarks for $119 each hanging on the wall. Slightly used extra picks for $7.50. Somebody go get 'em.
  10. As if there was such a thing.
  11. Petzl uses a more ductile steel than BD. BD picks stay sharp a little longer, but break easier. Petzl picks also hold slightly better when hooking rock edges.
  12. I really like the Petzl Hirundos for alpine/ice. Very light, simple (no fucking with a buckle, no de-adjusted leg loop hassles, slips on in seconds) and inexpensive. $123 for a harness???!!! Fuck Arcteryx...they make Hollywood shit, not real gear. Way too heavy, way too expensive.
  13. Goddamnit Ivan, NO RAW PHOTOS!!!!!11111 There, that's better:

  17. There are three choices in this election, and they are very simple: 1) The Smug Bitch 2) The Shiny New Box 3) The Mad Dog Pick one.
  18. It's an avi, not a slide, so it will melt out on its own. Little road repair will be required. You will not be able to drive around/over it right now, and the gate was still locked as of Thu last week, plus there's still too much snow.
  19. If you just want to crag on ice, the North Stuart Basin has much more of it than Colchuck. We spotted at least six good flows; 3 water ice and 3 glacier ice at base of the Ice Cliff Glacier. It's quite cold up there and the ice is in excellent shape and of various difficulties up to WI 5. Go get some. Based on our experience a few days ago, north facing routes are dusted with unconsolidated snow, with little or no neve or ice to sink into between rocks. Not great mixed conditions: too much snowfall recently. Couloirs are deep slogs right now. I don't know about the runnels on TC, however.
