  1. A) Scalia's assertion that freed detainees have gone on to commit acts of terrorism is an oft repeated urban myth completely unsupported by any evidence. B) It supports that argument that detainees should be tried to determine innocent or guilt. Had these mythical released terrorists been tried, they might likely have been found guilty and sentenced accordingly...i.e., no release. C) It's irrelevant. Occasionally, the accused goes free in our justice system and commits a crime. Does that mean that we should not conduct any criminal trials at all? Ummm, no.
  2. "Ummm....ahhhh...gggggguuuuhhh..." The sounds of disgust. Must be autobiographical.

  5. Yeah, that cracks me up when they think that the rest of the U.S. is just like these wingnuts. Actually, their numbers are declining, most likely. Studies show that Liberals and Greeners are not breading in sustainable numbers. I'm doing my part for the Conservative Base. Don't know about how much Liberals are breading their fish and poultry, probably less given the low carb craze, but it is statistically true that America is getting dumber. You're certainly doing your part to accelerate that trend.
  6. You don't know how right you are...I'm still in Alaska. you're in no place whatsoever to talk about decency
  7. The federal welfare recipient in tac-wear and the semi-professional sperm bank donor with the overdeveloped mousing hand compare resumes. Yes, our jobs are similar, but I don't get shot at
  8. Oops. Yeah . . . and you and KKK would cheer while hiding behind your mamas' skirts. i certainly wouldn't lift a finger to help you while the terrorists slit your throat.

  10. Telecoms have two worries: 1) Class action lawsuits levied by their customers (whether or not they hate America) due to misuse of their personal information as defined by their oft touted Privacy Policies. 2) Criminal prosecutions should it be found that they were accomplices is in a spying program found to be illegal. That the major telecoms give up huge amounts of their customers' personal information to government upon request, in violation of their Privacy Policies, is not in question. 3 years ago Google was in the news for refusing to do so, while Yahoo and its other competitors gave up millions of customer records without question. This is one of many documented examples where this has occurred.
  11. Some clarification on this often misunderstood subject: The Bush Administration did admit to administering the spying program, but never conceded that it was illegal. During congressional tesimony, then AG Alberto Conzales argued that the Congressional authorization to use all means necessary to conduct the War on Terror (which also authorized the invasion of Afghanistan) included to conduct the warrantless spying program. Virtually no legal scholars agree with this argument, because it violates the fundamental legal principle of specificity (a more specific law trumps a less specific one). The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, passed in the late 70's, clearly and specifically outlines how the government may conduct such spying; the aforementioned Congressional Authorization did not mention surveillance at all, so clearly FISA, not the Authorization, applies. The Foreign Intelligent Surveillance Court reviewed the administration's secret spying program and found that several aspects of it were illegal. The program was cancelled shortly thereafter. The ACLU has filed FOIA requests to make the reasons why the FISA court found the program illegal so as to better inform the public debate on the issue. Although the FISA court has published it's findings before, it has refused to publish the findings regarding this particular case so far. Anyone who claims to know the extent or who was targeted during the program is fabricating; these details have remained secret, even to Congress.

  14. But that was the Robitussen talking.
  15. Hey, wait a minute. The only thing I've killed lately is half a dozen threads.
  16. WTF? Robitussen is now alcohol free? AND you can't make meth out of it anymore? What the hell are we paying for here, people? We gotta get the GOP out. These drug companies are having their way with us and definitely not saying I Love You while doing it.
  17. You'll need a chainsaw for that, too.
  18. Except that ear shot. The one that got past my helmet. That fucking hurt. It's a good thing that Turbo Express missed me.
