Yeah, but he's an isolationist and would cut military-spending, harming corporations who participate in the military-industrial complex... yeah but they could make up for it with the abolishment of insider-trading laws as well as environmental regulations and the corporate income tax.

Ron Paul is the most pro-corporate candidate out there, is that a joke? Explain please. he doesn't think the federal government should regulate business (or the stock market, for that matter). He opposes virtually all "market interference" by the federal government, and he was one of the original plaintiffs on the lawsuit that became the Citizen's United decision. His libertarian beliefs are obviously anti-regulation, which is obviously pro-corporation. Jeez, don't you even research the guy?

Well, I think you're wrong about it being a "police state" but there's no point arguing over political nomenclature -- I actually agree with you: our civil liberties have been steadily degrading. I'm really pissed off about it and don't have faith in any current political solution by any party. I think this stuff has to be fought in the courts, and at least you and I can afford to send $$ to people actually doing something about this. Personally, though, I think that you do yourself disgrace when you describe our condition as a police state. I mean, it's getting bad, but the police in Seattle DID admit the killing was wrong (though WA State law protected the officer from prosecution) and they DID pay money to the family. Things are plenty bad enough without resorting to hyperbole and bombast to try and make a point -- we still enjoy the rule of law (mostly). More than anyone else (probably). So it's just kinda lame to start whining that we're a police state, it seems insulting to the majority of the world that kinda is. I mean, just look at the fact that you and I are even allowed to talk about this at all, freely, and without risk. Anyway, give money, dude.

at least I have the balls to post my opinions under my real username, rather than creating an anonymous avatar like a cowardly pussy. Have you always been such a pussy, or is this a new development? I wish the board revealed posting IPs so we could see who you really are. My money is on kevbone or bill, cause they're both retarded, too. Or kimmo. Tough call.

LOL, comparing the relatively amazing freedom and liberty you enjoy as an american citizen to "being able to choose between mcdonalds and burger king" -- god you make yourself sound dumb. You should go see the world, Kev. I have never called you a name, like dumb or idiot. Yet you do it all the time to me and others on the site. Who is the fool? Sure, you just tell me that I'm blind and living in ignorance and I only think that I'm free because I can choose between McDonald's and Burger King. How is that not insulting? You're such a drama queen. You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into. But it sure it fun to rattle his cage.

Better than Fox News. Yeah, but that's a low bar. So where do you get your news from? Serious question Rob. Lets see if you can answer it without sarcasm. I bet you will not be able too. do you want to know where I get my news, or my editorials? The link above was not actually news. Do you know the difference? News is easy to get on the internet, so I don't just have one source. Do you? But for general perusing (i.e. goofing off at work) I mostly use Google's news aggregate, because it offers a pretty good cross-section of both major and minor publishers and I can just randomly find stories that interest me. But for detailed stories on particular interests of mine, I mostly use internet search engines to find articles that interest me, regardless of publishers, and then I make my own decisions on the perceived accuracy of the report based on many factors (it's called critical thinking). I don't have favorite publishers because I think none of them are perfect and most are bad. That's why I make my decisions on a case-by-case basis. Editorials are a little different, since they are not unbiased (by definition) and so there are many editorials I don't read because I know they'd just piss me off (i.e. I don't get Rush's special content he offers on his website). With editorials, I find the author is more important than the publisher since they are usually written by people not actually employed by the publisher in the first place (unlike journalists who report on news). Therefore, my interest in editorials is mostly driven by my personal tastes, and not by whoever happened to publish it -- so again it's mainly a case-by-case thing. I certainly don't have any publisher that I just take at his word, or that I like more than any other. It's all mostly hit or miss. But, of all of these internet sources, I would consider most of the "youtube only" sources to be the most immature and unprofessional pieces of journalism out there. That's just from my personal experience -- there are exceptions, of course. But in general their coverage of the "news" is highly slanted and editorialized, which I view as badly as I view Fox.

Tell them no about what? "No, you can't arrest me for murder?" "No, you can't tax me?" Are you saying the government shouldn't be able to control you for anything? That anyone should just be able to say, "no thanks" ?? What the fuck does that even mean, kev? Anyway, your world view seems to be very black and white, with freedom and anarchy on one side, and totalitarianism and tyranny on the other. But, there are many, many people living in REAL police states that would probably LOVE to change places with you. God, you're like a spoiled kid. No wonder people hate americans -- comparing our country to real police states like North Korea really makes you just kinda sound like a dick. Just saying.

You're always going to be able to find examples of retards, kevin. Even among the police. But that doesn't make America a police state. See the distinction?

It's called "True News." That's how you know you can trust it.
-
Yep, and the fact that he's "abusing his power" is exactly why we are not a police state. If we were a police state, the charges against her wouldn't have been dropped (they were) and her pending lawsuit against the city would not be pending.
-
Wrong.....we do live in a police state. They have the power to order you around and if you do not comply, you get taszed or beaten or arrested. That is a police state my friend. the fact that Bone thinks this is a police state proves my point.
-
No one notices because America is not a police state. People who live in a police state tend to notice. America has laws and police but is certainly not a police state. +1. Calling America a "police state" proves you don't have any fucking idea what a police state is. That doesn't mean there isn't anything wrong with America, but hyperbole never fixed anything.

It would be neat if the climber's fee at MRNP had an optional "fallen ranger's fund" you could donate to when buying your permit, proceeds of which would benefit families of rangers killed in duty at MRNP or whatever. That would probably have more of a lasting impact than any sort of "in the moment" fund-raising scheme (i.e. slide-show) because the donations would continue in perpetuity, which is really what the surviving family needs. I wonder what sort of benefits the federal government provides for these sorts of incidents. If I were murdered at work, my kids would actually be better off (financially). But, I'm guessing rangers don't enjoy the benefits I do

He's also the only candidate talking about abolishing the EPA and ending federal regulation of the stock market.

Hey Bill, what's a vig? Man, it's a good thing Marmot Princess didnt post this troll in the newbies forum or KirkW would be crying that everyone is being too mean to him

Marmot prince, great troll. They were almost on to you, but then you brought up HACE and really set the hook. Nice work, I applaud you. Showing up and laying down a couple of posts in other forums is def the way to go, isn't it? A hunter has to be patient -- people need a backstory.
