So, how many more days do you think you'll be able to keep this Alkaholeke-thing going?
  5. I would support a tax on Funyuns. I don't care where the money goes.
  6. Got one for Fairweather:
  7. As usual, your facts are wrong. McCain is opposed to drilling in ANWR. He supports more offshore/shelf drilling. The point of this post was not Republican=good, Democrat=bad. The point was to demonstrate that expanding a bad program like ethanol subsidies is a knee-jerk reaction from the left that is at least as bad as any accusations of the same directed at the right. I can think of several times where "do-gooders" (typically, the left) got it dead wrong: Margarine. Requiring toxic flame retardants in children's clothing. Requiring the additive MTBE in gasoline. Etc. Etc. Sometimes they're just simple meddlers: Bicycle helmets, cell phone restrictions, seatbelt laws for adults. That's not to say they don't get it right sometimes: Airbags/seatbelts as standard equipment, certain labor and wage laws, certain enviro regs that are not exclusively social in nature, etc. That's all this thread was about--but lefties in particular seem hell-bent on preserving their orthodoxy and tagging the simplest dissent as blasphemy. Amazing. Margarine: Lifeblood of the Workers!
  8. Now that sounds like a PLAN!
  9. It's absurd that the right's critique of Obama is the lack of a plan when for the last thirty years it's been the right's platform to simply leave such things to the "free-market" and corporate decision-making. Anything that has remotely resembled a plan from health-care to energy involving oversight or regulation has either been dismissed as a pipedream or Socialist. The bloated "defense" budget gets a free pass as do any other pet-projects on the right's agenda. Given FW and Kojak's rhetorical track record with regard to big-guvermint, suggesting that it's to be tasked with handling nuclear waste, conducting wars, or come up with a plan for saving the planet (and allow Americans to live in the manner they've grown accustomed to) is hypocritical to say the least.
  10. So the plan according to the title of the thread is "leave well enough alone/more of the same/utilize even more dangerous technologies overseen by people we claim to be incompetent and corrupt"? Please provide evidence to the contrary. When that fails talk about man-titties, commies, and the terrerisms.
  11. Some decent ideas being thrown around here. What's your plan, Kojak?
  12. I would support the creation of ecological restoration work programs for former timber workers and economically-depressed communities in Washington paid for by taxes on paper towels and single serving water bottles.
  13. I would support a requirement for the installation of solar panels covering the roofs of any new big box stores, strip malls, and condos.
  14. I would support a western Washington progressive gas tax increase for the construction of a high speed passenger train through the I-5 corridor from Vancouver, BC to Portland, OR.
  15. I'm not an Obama supporter, so your mewlings are pretty much lost on me.
  16. Plans = commie plots, social engineering, end of Civilization, barbarians at the gate, dishonor, living in caves, etc. Try to stay on message Kojak.
  17. Leave it to the libertarian types, whose entire platform is supposedly based on exposing the government as corrupt, bumbling, and inefficient to start screaming for a plan only when it comes to something extremely dangerous or when the consequences would be catastrophic like the disposal of nuclear waste or war.
  18. McCain's Puget Sound Oil Plan Then we can finally widen the roads to ease traffic congestion!
  19. I'd be curious to see where that money's being invested.
