    This weekend

All these "quotation marks" in this thread... why all the sarcasm?
  14. No, but...
  15. Well then... how 'bout an orca? 40 goats and an orca?
  16. Well... here ya go. I was going to post this just for the heck of it... No sex, no drugs, no wine, no women No fun, no sin, no you, no wonder it's dark Everyone around me is a total stranger Everyone avoids me like a cyclone ranger ... and come to find out it's "cyclone ranger" and NOT "psyched lone ranger" like I've thought all along. Personally... I think my version makes more sense. But whatever.
  17. How 'bout this... http://www.nv.doe.gov/news&pubs/publications/envm/pdfs/DOE_EA_1381.pdf Or perhaps this... http://www.lanl.gov/orgs/pa/News/092601.html Or... http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-briefs28.2jul28,1,1112054.story?coll=la-headlines-nation I've actually found Al Jazerra to be quite informative. As long as it's not your only source!
  18. I always thought she said some strange pronounciation of "saucy". Didn't make much sense, but wtf... it was just a song.
  19. Fuggedaboudit, Glad to hear that your most recent trip to Rainier was better than your previous one! Sounds like it was more exciting, at least. First time I was on Rainier, I went into a slot to my waist, 100 yards from camp when coming back down to Schurman. While nothing like your experience, it is a humbling experience. Since we were so close to camp, and had just stopped to talk to some friends at the Flats, we were just walking holding coils. Dumb dumb mistake, as the crack was so obvious if you looked the opposite way. Definite learning experience. Glad you had great weather this time. -kurt
  20. Haven't been up there, but Gator's last climbing conditions update on the MRNP website (which I can't seem to pull up right now, or I'd cut and paste for ya) said it was pretty out of shape. Entrance was a rocky waterfall at the moment, I believe he said. -kurt

    Bad First Dates

So true, so true. Us men don't have to put up with any of this from the women.

    Bad First Dates

On a first date? Was it bad? Are you prepared to resist it now?
  23. Don't base your decision on whether to take any on what someone did last week. You've got 3 weeks of warm weather between now and then, so current conditions don't mean much. Things will probably open up more up high. Take what you need to get yourself out of trouble, if it should find you. -kurt
  24. Thinking that there is "someone" within the whole Islamic religion that can speak for others or reign in their extremists is like thinking the Pope can reign in Jerry Falwell. Jerry Falwell isn't telling people to kill non-believers by decapitation or bus-bomb. If he were, I suspect the Christian world would shout him down without ambiguity. My point is... and I think you got it... is there is no one living voice that represents Islam. Just as there is no one living voice that represents Christianity.
  25. "Current" events seem to have little impact on those involved in religious arguments. How long have the Jews and Palestinians been spitting at each other? What if part of what defines a race is religion? While not a historian on the issue, I thought Srebrinica was primarily Christians killing Muslims. Don't know. I'm guessing... Islam? And your point is? Christianity underwent a Reformation, but at the time, I'm pretty sure the Catholics thought the Reformers were a bunch of extremists! Sure... we don't have indulgences anymore, but it's not like the Catholics and Lutherans and Episcopalians and Tom Cruise all agree on everything now. Isn't it the same with Islam? Don't we have different sects of Islam for that very reason? My main problem is when people paint all of Islam with the same broad brush. The old "us versus them" mentality. Call me stupid (you won't be the first) but I actually believe many of the Imams when they say they are outraged by what is going on "in the name" of Islam. Just as I am outraged, as a Christian, at how our home-grown extremists highjack my religion.
