  1. It looked too CG in the previews, but I'm probably in.
  2. Red Mill Burgers on Phinney at 67th. Always quality meat, chicken, or even veggie. Lots of options, including crisp, hot fries. And a Starbucks next door. Perfect. Lines out the door in summer.
  3. Holy crap! I just spotted the trango's at 1/3 off. http://www.sierratradingpost.com/xq/asp/base_no.72197/dept_id./qx/product.htm
  4. Strange story. I hope he's OK. Komotv.com article
  5. As if Richard Simmons has a thingy. He's probably just storing a down there.
  6. So far, so good.
  7. I thought this was about fastest times from car-to-tent..

    The Snaffle

    Alls I sees is blankness.
  9. Nice work, John. I'd been hankerin for one of your trip reports. 8:15 for 20 miles and 6k is motoring! I know, it was poptart-powered.
  10. Paul, you might try some tape back there, and going with a dual layer of synthetic socks. The liner sock will rub against the outer sock and not your heel.
  11. Lowell, I am sorry about your brother. Let the peace of the mountains rest on you. Alex
  12. Donn, great pictures, thank you very much. Forrest, nice find! The article is only a few weeks old. Wreckage in the mountains has always fascinated me. I wonder who put the plaque up, and if it was carried in a backpack to the pass.
  13. Here is a link to a backpacker's traverse of the Pickets. The part I'm interested in is the passing reference to a helicopter crash in 1980. Does anyone have any info on the crash/rescue attempt? Links? Know anyone who knows anyone?
  14. Seawallrunner...I'm pretty sure that is the bridge across the Whitechuck to the old Mt loop hwy. That is not on the Whitechuck river road. Marek..call Darrington ranger district, they have the exact mileage for all four washouts on the road. I was told I could haul a bike across them. Where the road actually crosses the Whitechuck is not compromised. However the Whitechuck river trail is missing almost a mile of the five miles to where Kennedy camp used to be, before it got destroyed. The word is Mt Loop Hwy and Suiattle river road will be restored next year. Whitechuck Rd...perhaps the year after that, with talk of relocating the trail to the other side. (Where it used to be 40 years ago)
  15. Is this the same phenomenon? The fellow who owns this picture calls it a 'spectral halo'.
  16. Please post again in December. Which peak are you looking at?
  17. Often talked about, nice to hear it was done. Good tip on the gullies.
  18. Heyaah, heyaah, take that, beyotches!
  19. They can keep their germs!
  20. Awesome TR, thanks for posting from 'elsewhere'.
  21. Soy chocolate milk. Same calories, more protein, plus the soy scrubs your arteries. Squeeze more beans!
