  1. How much time do you spend looking at logs? jeebus, you need a girlfriend. Or at least an imaginary one
  2. Too healthy. Needs butter.
  3. I started taking yoga classes about 6 weeks ago, and have found my climbing has significantly improved. All of the movements are super controlled, balance is key, and it really helps with your flexability. My climbing has gotten way better with being able to precisely place feet and hands, keep my balance and gravity in position. Definitely recommend it! Have definitely heard this from a few people. I somewhat prefer martial arts (though I haven't studied much and don't at the moment) as instead of a static balance where your trying to maintain a fixed position, it's a dynamic balance focused on smooth flowing motion.
  4. Oh, and go do Toxic Shock  The 5.8 and 5.7 also looked pretty good.
  5. Might see you up there on Saturday And I didn't like the way Sickle crack looked and ended up avoiding it the right. It looked a bit tenous with no gear sufficient to keep you from grounding. Well that, and it was my first lead since early june So I bailed left through the blocky stuff, and then traversed above the buttlips to do the Taurus finish

    Huckleberries?

Got a good recipe? I plan on doing some picking this weekend and I think this could go will with a nice bottle of tequila I have. Make sure you've got a good blender that eats through ice. I've burned more than a couple motors out makin these things! Fill blender 1/2 to 3/4 full with ice Fill remainder of the way with frozen fruit (Huckleberries are far and away the best fruit ever ) Add 1/2 a can of limeade, 3 oz triple sec. and of course 3/4 cup of tequila (don't waste a good tequila as you won't be able to taste it anyway). Blend until smooth and serve. Oh, and don't blend near anything you care about not getting purple stains on it. This includes countertops, floors, people you like, etc. etc. If anyone thinks they need more liquor just because they can't taste the tequila, give them shots. But don't stand too close, it never ends well Unless of course anyone has a good way to get out huckleberry juice stains? Good stuff!! Fill blender 1/2 to

    Huckleberries?

It's right off the road next to a parking lot. I can't tell you where it is though or Mrs. Selkirk will kill me slowly.

    Huckleberries?

On a sidenote there are only 5 perfect foods. Fresh Huckleberries Frozen Huckleberries in a bowl Huckleberry Pie Huckleberry Margaritas and Mincemeat pie with Venison And huckleberry margarita's are by far the most fun. Besides which they turn your mouth an amusing shade of purple

    Huckleberries?

The red ones just aren't the same. An ok substitute but it's all about the purple ones! The darker the color the better The purple ones are harder to find. They are closely related to blueberries. I know where there are lots of them but I'm not saying where. It's not easy to get to anyway. Comparing purple huckleberries to blueberries is sacrilege!!! Burn the heretic! And my wife found an endless field a couple of years ago that seems to be completely undiscovered despite it's excessive ease of access.

    Huckleberries?

What does one do with Salmon berries? They've never been quie satisfying enough for me to justify eating loads straight off the bush, and the flavor seems to mild to justify pies and whatnot?
  13. Yes this is tragic, but no way in heck I would charge this young man with manslaughter. Granted he made a stupid mistake. And at most he was negligent. But I am not sure it was foreseeable that someone was down there. Regardless it was just a horrible accident for everyone involved. I believe the guilt of the accident alone is enough punishment. Besides the prosecutors office has more serious offenses to deal with. Is it ok to drive on backroads at 2:00 in the morning without your headlights on? How about fire a gun in downtown Seattle, even if you have a good target that it won't punch through? Put liquor in the punch for a high school dance when you know people will be driving home? At some point it becomes gross negligence, even if it wasn't intentional. I could be wrong but isn't that the definition of manslaughter?

    Huckleberries?

Eww, how about the thimble berries? Anyone know of a place with enough density to make picking worthwhile! I love those things but it's hard to find more than a few bushes here or there.

    Huckleberries?

Now how big a ton are we talking and where do you live! Bears don't usually bother me, besides don't you have big guns? I remember a few years in north Idaho where there were enough huckleberries that my step-dad spent 1/2 an hour picking in the same spot 20 ft from a bear doing the same thing

    Huckleberries?

Anyone seen ripe huckleberries in the North Cascades yet? No need to divulge secret locations, but a ripeness report would be much appreciated Thanks!
  19. Beer drinking is reserved for those working on their alpine insulation, for the big Sunday ascent of Castle Rock As being hungover easily adds a grade, it would be wise to prepare for the eventual epic.
  20. Ramuta's is still downtown. It's just that the Ramuta that does the climbing shoes is actually Ramuta's son, and he's in Montana now. (This would make more sense with first names ) Oh, and he has Onyx rubber for resoles
  21. Everyone starts out as gaper.
  22. Barge cement would probably work ok. Certainly not to patch a hole though. As memory serves you supposed to coat both surfaces lightly, allow to dry slightly then press together to let it set. That said, the time's I've tried to reattach rand's/soles it was only good for a few climbs. You might actually ask Dave Page, or get in touch with Ramuta's down on Stewart. They actually ship the shoes to his son, but they come back damn near better than they came from the manufacturer and with your choice or rubber Can't speak highly enough about those guys!
  23. With good climbers. Can certainly help. But depending on how you approach it, I've seen some climbers stunted by this, as they only end up top roping problems at or above their ability level. Someone said that climbing is 90% mental, and the rest if footwork. Nothing builds the mental part like like leading everything all the time.
  24. Lead stuff slightly above your current ability level that protects well I've found irrational fear of falling/dying is good for at least a letter grade improvement. Oh, you might also look into ballet/martial arts. I haven't done it in a while by Tai Chi would probably be exceptionally good training as it's all focused on slow, controlled, relaxed movement, with a lot of focus on being centered and learning to move from your core.
