I am taking my daughters this weekend on our anual father daughter backpack trip. Bring fishing poles to a lake and it is really fun for the kids. Let them bring a book, coloring book or small game.

Yeah, I ended up just going up the south peak yesterday as my partner wussed out because he thought he might get misted on. I agree that axe was not necessary. The gully up to the east ridge did still look snow filled and from where I stood, I would have taken an axe but Max was there in the gully and I was not.

Olympic mountain guide and Smoot both reccomend double rope raps. Has anybody done it with just a single?

Thinking about heading in and doing the east ridge of north peak. Has anybody looked at the snow lately heading up to gain the east ridge. Should we bring axes?

This mountain has really caught my eye since appearing on the cover a few years ago of the Olympic climbing guide. Does anybody have opinions on the best route, quality of rock, excellence of mountain experience and/or aproach/ general time notes. Is it a reasonable 2 day trip and does it have allot of 'bang for the buck'? thanks for any input.

Oly, You will be fine. You will heal. Start getting your mind set ready to rehab and strengthen your body when the doc gives you the go ahead. Talk to some Physical therapists, find a good one near your house that you can go to when you get the cast off etc....Consider this fall a wash for climbing. Get it into your mind that this will not hold you back and set a goal of the first of the year you come back strong and with a purpose. You will succeed if you lay back, heal, and then come back strong. Good luck!!

The main breaker was switched to off. It was in a closed and locked garage. What was spooky however is that that day my wife had a 'garage sale' and sometimes with those things it brings about some unsavory deal hunters. Nobody went into the garage during the sale as it was actually held out in the couldesac. When I looked in the garage that night, my neighbor and I both went into it with weapons drawn looking in all the vehicles, hiding places etc...

Last Friday night at 11:45 pm my family and I were sleeping when we were awoken by our dog whining to go out. This happens occasionaly when he sees animal etc.... out the door or he hears somehting. My wife got up and let him out and he ran out barking loudly at whatever. 5 minutes or less later our power goes out. My wife and I get up to check out whats going on and we realize that our neigbors on either side and across the street both have their power on. This is weird?? I call my neighbor who is a cop and lives across the street and ask him what he thinks. He agrees that it is odd and since he has his two children at home sleeping he does not want to come outside to check this out so long story short I called 911 who sends out officers to investigate. While they are on their way I went into the garage and check the fuse box that has the main power circuit breaker tripped to the off position. All checked out ok but we are left with a mystery. How did the circuit breaker get tripped. I have never had that happen before with the main. At the time it tripped we had no electricity running except hot tub in back yard that has its own dedicated gfi and circuit. Ideas anybody?

Thanks Kat, We went last weekend and ended up visiting Boudreax winery that is up the icicle just over the bridge from the "Classic Crack" climb. It is by appointment only and kind of spendy but Rob Newsom (the wine maker) hangs with you and it is very nice. He actually moved to Leavenworth from the south because he was a climber and then he got into wine making. We also ended up going rafting that weekend which was a blast too.

ILS. Go work with some people in those fields as a "shadow" and see what their "typical" day is like. This can be very telling.

Remember this ILS. You are right about the training philosphies of nurses, MDs and PAs and even Chiropractors for that matter. There are good nurses and bad nurses, good MDs and bad ones and so on... what is important is the individual practioner attitude towards patient care and disease prevention/healing. You are who you are as a person and at the end of the day that will shine through in whatever model you chose to be trained in.
