  1. couloir, this thread started 1 month ago. 2-6" is the prediction for this weekend...not ideal climbing weather, but not a dump. link "Sunny Friday. Increasing clouds Friday night. Increasing mostly rain or snow Saturday morning with rapidly lowering snow levels. Mostly light snow showers Saturday afternoon and evening. Decreasing light snow showers Saturday night ending by Sunday morning."
  2. i heard a while back of a method to make heel lifters with PVC, but i cannot visualize the 'strap' system. any suggestions on the following will be greatly appreciated. -height -cord material (elastic cord would have benefits, but what about freeze up?) -duct tape around rims to prevent slippage? thanks all!
  3. stupid doesn't know shit. well, maybe that one out east but portland's all-knowing weather predicting rodent said the same thing.
  4. no one would go through the trouble to produce and sell a pic with two moons, one of them as crappy as that. the sun is setting behind the photographer as seen with the alpenglow on the peak, which would be consistent with the 'good' moon. but alas, it is too big for the scene and was photoshopped in. i think griz AND rad are both right!
  5. crap! i'm going for a week in october...is there anything exciting besides "water, sun, skin, and booze"? sea kayaking? hiking? maybe i'll just have to get scuba certified... when are you going jason?
  6. absolutely not. i am a perfectly responsible and mature adult
  7. even if it was a bobcat, it still could have fucked them up. i worked for a wildlife rehab center as a kid and watched as a coworker fed a bobcat medicine. "oh, it's just a cute oversized housecat" nope. into the cage went the kevlar gloved hand...and that cat let out the fiercest growl i've ever heard and fought back hard. folks if you're going to play good samaritan, wrap the animal in a blanket/jacket and make sure it's head and eyes are covered (in a box is second best). keep the windows cracked and turn off the music and loud talking. the animal should be pretty passive when they can't see/hear anything and their movement is severly limited. oh yeah, you have to assume whatever knocked out animal you pick up will wake up and be extremely scared and pissed off. remember tommy boy?
  8. link Man peed way out of avalanche A Slovak man trapped in his car under an avalanche freed himself by drinking 60 bottles of beer and urinating on the snow to melt it. Rescue teams found Richard Kral drunk and staggering along a mountain path four days after his Audi car was buried in the Slovak Tatra mountains. He told them that after the avalanche, he had opened his car window and tried to dig his way out. But as he dug with his hands, he realised the snow would fill his car before he managed to break through. He had 60 half-litre bottles of beer in his car as he was going on holiday, and after cracking one open to think about the problem he realised he could urinate on the snow to melt it, local media reported. He said: "I was scooping the snow from above me and packing it down below the window, and then I peed on it to melt it. It was hard and now my kidneys and liver hurt. But I'm glad the beer I took on holiday turned out to be useful and I managed to get out of there." Parts of Europe have this week been hit by the heaviest snowfalls since 1941, with some places registering more than ten feet of snow in 24 hours.
  9. and what reason would make this jackass not an idiot?
  10. I second Israel Vibrations & Culture also... Clinton Fearon Gregory Isaacs (bad boy loverman 1&2) (more on the old timer rootsy side)
  11. One presidential '0' face coming up. wait...i can't find it!?
  12. no thanks dru i've heard certain juices lower the freezing point, but haven't noticed any improvements in my testing. sounds like gatorade would be a better bet.
  13. no shit turbo. they do this for every fuckin president. no one's playing the blue/red card on this one. breath deep aaaahhhh...relaaaaax
  14. taxpayers footed the bill for security...not a small sum
  15. at least "tax and spend" has some kind of balance. "cut taxes and spend"??? even a 4 year old can tell you that won't last.
  16. you all are missing the real point here. what is spongebob? he's a sponge! what sex is a sponge?? NONE! they're asexual!! This shit needs to be banned NOW! Do you want these fucking freaks of nature shoving their asexuality down your throats?! your children's throats?! Soon, your children will be coming home to their parents saying, 'i don't like boys. i want to have babies by mitosis or gemmulation because that's how spongebob does it'. the all mighty god and his spokesman, GW, do not approve of this and neither should you. I am forming a group called "Families for Natural Fucking" with these two as cosponsors. believe me, i have had nothing to do since the election and i have plenty of time to take this issue to the forefront of national concern! Join me now!
  17. touche that's one example. yet his actions over the last 4 years has the scale tipped far to the other side.
  18. I agree. my beef is with those who back up an argument with a soundbite they just heard on tv/radio/etc. when pressed for more insight to their opinion, they can't explain why. example: my brother voted bush b/c "bush will make this country safer". when asked to explain exactly how, and what kerry would/wouldn't do...no back up. i don't want to rehash this argument, this is just an example of regurgitating soundbites without thinking critically.
