A huge thanks to Chris Greyell, Mark Hanna, Matt Perkins et al for the access work they have done for Darrington. The trail sign at Squire Creek (3 o'clock) looks great and will definitely have a lasting impact with the F.S. Thanks Matt for your work to keep the road opened and maintained.

as far as i know, and the last time i was there, the guide services work together to place and maintain the pickets across the autobahn. my last time across the autobahn i cleaned the traverse and walked into 17 camp with about 30 pickets attached to myself - not only was it heavy but i couldnt get them off either. it has a bit clostrophobic with the weight and not really being able to move at that point.

mattp - any recent news on the darrington road access?

check out texasclimbers.com i have bouldered at bull creek - not bad actually. and have climbed the sport routes along the greenbelt, the new wall/great wall. not bad considering you are in austin. slick limestone, well worn holds. that web site has plenty of topos and directions.

dan - that is the system i have used up there. i size up a size for the buttress though - for comfort. with insulated super gaitors and intuition you should be set.

hadn't been to vantage in a while and headed out this past weekend to clip some bolts. i only went to the riverviewpark and corn wall areas - but at both of those areas someone had written the names of the areas on the walls with green chalk and labeled the grade of each route at the base of that route. i've seen this in south america (actually with spray paint there) but this was just ridiculous. anyone know anything about this? it didnt take any energy to wash the green chalk off with a little water...i know that place is already mass bolted and cleaned, but come on?
