Actually, that is the page that caused me to question my initial call. It's this statement: CAUTION There are many species of mushrooms in the Amanita genus which are not psychoactive. Some are deadly poisonous while others are edible. Which ones of the Amanita genus would this one be confused with that are deadly? I don't know of any...

A-fox: Yes, that pic looks like the same one, only a little older (they turn up a bit as they age). Know anyone whose found one around here and eaten it? C-Panther: You are right, the Panther Cap is greyish and I don't think has plaques.

I've noticed a lot of folks pose questions that are not directly related to climbing, but perhaps tangentially so (i.e. plant indentification, rock formation history, etc). Maybe an "Ask it here" forum might see more traffic than the Pirates only forum? Can we try a beta version maybe?

There are a couple that can look like it, but mostly they are variations. I am curious if this is a Amanita muscaria var. flavivolvata variation, and if so, is it still worth the trouble of eating. The Panther Cap is the main one I understand that I have to watch for, although it is also an Amanita and not deadly. And I think it is more brownish? Anyone experienced?

I think I found a Fly Agaric this weekend. Can anyone confirm this? I have more pics and will send them if you need.

The majority of people roll over the front. It's good to know because if you have no end hanging out you spin it from the top down and it'll appear. If there was no norm, then you'd have to slowly spin it until you found the end and pick it off, or spin it both ways until it appeared. I read in Reader's Digest that 31% of people roll from the back. I don't know why I never forgot that useless statistic, but I am glad I get to call it up now.
