I am sorry about this last turn of events. I am happy that the drug company is willing to shoulder some of the costs; they really didn't have to do that. And I honestly hope you are not considering any legal action. They may have actually been party to causing harm, but that was not their intention. I rely on big pharma for some drugs that really make my life a lot less painful; and even though some side effects are expected, I know that I am willing to go through them and to take the chance of a negative reaction in exchange for the benefits. Someone shouldn't be punished for offering me this option. And they probably shouldn't be punished for offering you and Latte that option. At the same time, I feel for you and for the decisions you and your vet have made for your cat. It sounds like everyone here has Latte's best interests in mind. The best to you.

I have had great success with chiropractic adjustment for various problems. However, this is one situation where I would be very hesitant to agree with this recommendation. I have no medical training, but I do have first had experience with much of what we're talking about here and that is my $0.02. But to each his own, each person is different and the body is an incredibly complex thing...

It's not the potential for seizure, Neuroglia is not a seizure disorder. But the associated pain would drive anyone crazy and make it worth trying a drug like Tegretol. Especially if climbing is one of the things that trigger a painful episode. Good luck Crackers--and remember that if they have not done so already, be sure they check for MS. Not to scare you, but sometimes that is misdiagnosed as Neuroglia (I am sure they already checked this from your scan--but it's good to ask). Best of luck to you and my heart goes out to you.

Actually, yes. For some strange reason, it's the alcohol that doesn't go with this med. And for some stranger reason, the docs don't tell you that. Maybe they haven't tested for the interaction yet or maybe they just don't think many people react that way; I really don't know.

I have taken tegretol. I experienced almost no side effects (much better than previous anti-convulsants). I had mild ataxia, and would just work a little lighter as a result. But DO NOT risk drinking alcohol, not even the night before, on it when planning to climb.

I say you need to axe the dog himself.
