  1. I know it is the latter. I'm not sure it ever really was the former. 100 years ago the country was ruled by robber barons and corporate interests, and in the mid 1800's it was very much a one party system. There's a lot of faults with this culture and this system, but through all that, this country remains one of the best places in the world for it's opportunities and standard of living. Not to say there aren't many great countries one could have a very comfortable life, but it's still true. Well said. Always easy to pick out people who know very little of history, isn't it?

Given the thread length of this dubious honor, sounds like you didn't need me. I was complimenting you man. Giving you the old thumbs up! It’s lame for you and SS not to respond to compliments. I would hate to have to resort to flinging shit your way just to get you to respond! What's lame is that you feel you need to get them to respond in the first place. Something is wrong with you.

  4. social democracies seem to provide a fertile ground for general happiness. Really? How do you know that socialism grew out of a population that was pretty well headed for happiness anyway?

    car problem???

did you get that in a PM?
  7. Don't do it until you get a new job. I woulda been there, but practice got changed at the last minute and I wasn't free until 9:30. Didn't give me enough time to get down there. But I think the last minute thing is a great idea to intersperse with the week's notice pub clubs!!! Try again, you never know!
  8. This is a good point. I have a T-Shirt that is a "Hitler World Tour" shirt that I find funny. I quickly discovered that others do not. I don't wear it so often--even though I strongly believe in the right to free speech and self expression.
  9. Wow, that is profit. Something like 4 million and hour? Amazing.
  10. I think that's a good shot. Nice angle work. You know she's clean by the towel. Pink is nice and feminine. But I am not sure if that is a candle on the floor?

Sweet, where DID you get that Rhino, Boner? It's so utilitarian, it, like, works with ALL of your "jokes". Yeah, you see, a few weeks back, kevbone learned how to link and post pictures. Now he has a stock of about 6 or 8 photos that work for everything. Sometimes he doesn't even need to post text, because they are soooo funny even the 30th time around, and even if they are a total non-sequiter and have no context whatsoever. Streamlined. Even "Tub Girl" was more entertaining! I miss tub girl.

I have been bitten, but not fully attacked by a dog. However, I have been getting tracked by a big cat on my way to and from my place. I have instituted a new rule: it is the "one hiss" rule. Come face to face with a cat that looks at you wrong and your respect for the animal turns to sheer survival instinct. I never walk unarmed around there at any time.

I'd be happy to talk to you one on one about the pros and cons of the breed. PM me anytime. It is a big decision that should be weighed carefully. Good on you for being responsible--you are the kind of person who makes a good dog owner.

And the best dog I've ever known was my beloved Turbo, full pit. He did tear the neighbor's little shitbeast to pieces though. RIP to both of them.

I used to breed pits and have a fair amount of experience with them. There are a number of places that have enacted ordinances against pits, and with good reason. There are also a number of homeowners' insurance policies that specifically exclude pits from coverage. That said, of the pits I have owned and bred, one pit in particular had a lovable and friendly personality for her whole life. But, it is a crapshoot and it cannot be denied that pits are fighting dogs. They always have been, they always will be. I am a dog lover, obviously, and it saddens me to see this breed owned and misused by so many people who don't know what is required to raise and care for a dog with as much destructive power and aggressive tendancy as this beautiful animal.
  19. I agree with this. Unfortunately, if the dog does kill again, you are in deep doo doo b/c you "knew" the dog had a "history" of killing. Unfortunately, I have been in this situation with two dogs at different times. It is sad and a little bit scary. They were pits though, and not huskies.
  20. Gary, Do you know anyone who could powder-coat them for you? Maybe the prototype lab at school has a sprayer?
  21. I cannot play any of the youtube embeds on this site. It is crushing me with sadness.
  22. Very true. And you would think that Americans would have a great appreciation for this. We tend to answer "education" to every problem, but then don't fund that or support it. Al did.
  23. Thank God you're here!!
  24. You mean men? yeah, but we think they are worth the cramps.
