I saw a picture, they had them at the SLC outdoors expo thingy. Evidentally 6mm width. An improvement on what is already clearly the best runner, also made by mammut.

Thanks Luke, I'll send some photos of Castle Hill. Maybe I can get some good photos of Kea Birds to match your Cinereous Vultures! P.S. anyone else think it's funny that Chris and Luke are misspelling 'Wirlwind'?

Near the top of Silver Star Mtn. in Clark County is a basalt formation called Sturgeon Rock. Does anyone know of any climbs or potential up there?

Ivan, what a coincidence.... There is a guy in Bellingham who is giving one of those away. It's an aluminum shovel head that fits on an ice axe. Not only am I in Bellingham, but on Saturday I'll be coming down to SW WA for the holidays, so I could give it to you. Course that would mean another frozen bike ride back across town too. hmm..... http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/plab/showphoto.php?photo=14868&sort=1&cat=516&page=1

Ok, so not EVERY climber is rich and white, but doesn't it seem that the vast majority of folks you see in the mountains of the PNW are caucasian and probably in the top 50% of society in terms of income? I'm not trying to say that we all live in mansions or drive that coveted Dodge Stratus, but there is a trend. Why do climbers and skiers disproportionately fit this demographic? (Or if you don't think they do, maybe I am just not noticing everyone)

What ever happened to the bike?

Just come down for the party and we can discuss.

Erik, you know I'm gonna ski into Mox on a sunny afternoon in Feb, find some sweet mixed climbing up the face, booty all your gear, TOP OUT, then ski back to the Ross Lake Ferry in some sweet Freshiez.
-
Damn right, we usually get a couple nice weeks of bluebird high-pressure in Feb... tough to plan exact though.

Dru, that PM was Crap. 'Picture Layton' isn't really much of a secret or a trick. MisterE... I'll bring some homemade Christmas cookies.

Castle Hill, is that one of those spots with lots of little pieces of mountains laying around? I'm looking at Cook, Aspiring, and the places where those pieces of mountains are still part of the peaks! Well, if it was moved to WED to accomodate Fern, let's hope she shows. Sorry you can't make it Dru, I'll be sure to pass on any NZ 'sheep secrets' to you or CPB when I return.

Strange, new carnivore species sighted on Borneo Mon Dec 5, 2005 7:04 PM ET GENEVA (Reuters) - Environmental researchers are preparing to capture what they call a new, mysterious species of carnivore on Borneo, the first such discovery on the wildlife-rich Indonesian island in over a century. Swiss-based environmental group WWF said on Monday its researchers photographed the strange animal, which looks like a cross between a cat and a fox, in the dense, central mountainous rainforests of Borneo. "This could be the first time in more than a century that a new carnivore has been discovered on the island," said the WWF in a statement. The mammal, slightly larger than a cat with red fur and a long tail, was photographed twice by a camera trap at night. Locals and wildlife experts who viewed photographs of the animal, which has very small ears and large hind legs, said they had never seen such a creature before and were convinced that it was a new species, WWF said. Researchers hope to confirm the discovery by setting cage traps to catch a live specimen, but warn that Indonesian government plans to clear the rainforest to create the world's largest palm oil plantation may interfere with plans, WWF said. The proposed plantation scheme, funded by the China Development Bank, is expected to cover an area of 1.8 million hectares, equivalent to about half the size of The Netherlands, said the WWF, formerly known as the World Wide Fund for Nature. The potential new species of carnivore in Borneo would be the first since the discovery of the Borneo ferret-badger in 1895, the WWF said. Pictures of the animal were first taken by WWF researchers in 2003, the photos kept unpublished by the WWF as research continued. The WWF decided to make public the photos with the release of a book about Borneo, to be published on Tuesday.

Steep & Cheap: Atomic MX:7 Telemark Ski $43.75!!!!
Blake replied to scot'teryx's topic in On-Line/Mail-Order Gear Shops
yeah.. but are these skis any good? I've heard mixed reviews. $60 aint much, but its $60 wasted if the skis suck. -
