    Go Pistons

Watched my first NBA game of the season last night. What is that thing that Richard Hamilton of the Detroit Pistons is wearing? Does he have braces or something?

    Why we die

. I use them to carry water when I'm on a hike or even sometimes climbing. Mine was yellow. I once dropped one from 5 feet, and it got a scratch on it, so I returned it to REI. Other than that, it works great!

    Why we die

But only to piss off the Americans, who recently renamed Liberty Ridge to Freedom Ridge.

    Why we die

I'm trying to setup a toprope anchor to my car. Well, actually it's not a car but a motorcycle. Anyway it's much heavier than me so it should work. I only have 23' of 9/16" webbing. Should I get 1" or will that stuff be strong enough? I'm doing something similiar. I'm setting up a slackline, using a moped as a main anchor. The moped gets 53 miles per gallon. Should I use bent or oval biners?

    Why we die

Your original theory works. Just add the fact that even the best climbers can have bad luck...and that some objective danger can be impossible to detect.
  6. Also keep in mind that the current edition was written when men were men. Hey bremerton_john, can you post a list of peaks you guys need help with?

  9. Great trip report Dru! I have taken those 7 breaths before
  10. For floating the Yukon, Michener's 'Alaska'. For anything down in the canyon lands, The Exploration of the Colorado River, by John Wesley Powell.
  11. When I went to WWU up in B'ham I had a stinky little ferret named "Weely". Then one day he went missing. A month or so later, I started to smell my little friend. I found him in a poster tube in my closet, pretty much liquified.
  12. You're confusing the matter. Maybe this will help:
  13. AP is now updated. One of the climbers did die. RIP. From the PI: "Mount Rainier National Park spokesman Barry Fraissinet identified the deceased climber as Jon Cahill, a captain with the Auburn Fire Department, and his partner as Bellevue firefighter Mark H. Anderson. Both men were emergency medical technicians."
  14. to the first taker: EQQHS34EMB I-tunes from a bottle cap/pepsi I had for lunch. enjoy. Oh ya...post if you take it.
  15. It appears that sources using AP feeds have both climbers alive, and the local reports have one dead and the other flown out with an injured wrist.
  16. Ya, this is bizarre. You gotta wonder if people are confusing it with the last incident. The PI has both of them still alive. Heres to hoping the better outcome is the truth.
  17. The reporting is all over the map on this incident. The aforementioned King5 web article has one climber dead, one climber being flown out with a broken hand. This KIRO web article has one climber with a "broken back being flown out, with the other walking out with a "wrist injury". And then there was the mentioned confusion about the KOMO article. I would expect that the King5 article is probably accurate, expecting the worst....but best to wait to hear the facts from the people who were/are actually involved in the rescue.
  18. One of the climbers has apparently died. RIP.
