Looked this one up: Neoliberalism
-
And so with the invasion and occupation of Iraq, Rumsfeld, Cheney, et al, could further their life-long and devoted support of the military industrial complex as well as secure a sterilized laboratory for proving their neocon socio-economic theories. All these good things they could accomplish, because there would be no pesky liberal involvement to mess things up. History will show that these guys ran the military industrial complex from the end days of the Nixon administration until the present time, at least.

Yes, homophobia is caused by unresolved latent homosexuality issues, and not just most of the time. Sheaf Stout is gay.

None of GM's overseas competitors has to shoulder the healthcare costs for employees, nor must they transfer the expense to the price of their cars and trucks. In the world economy, domestic car makers are at a competitive disadvantage for two important reasons that they cannot change under the current economic policies in place here in regard to healthcare: In order for their employees to have healthcare, domestic manufacturers must directly shoulder the related costs. Two, healthcare costs in the US are much higher than elsewhere because the US healthcare system is economically inefficient, as evidenced by the substantially lower quantity of service for the price paid. The economic forces in this regard predictably will prove undeniable, although many will cling to their denial to the last minute. Denial will continue to manifest in false claims that American healthcare services are generally of higher quality or that single-payer systems cost more. But when push comes to shove by the forces of economics, those in denial will be pushed aside like shade-tree mechanics hoping to keep busy next to the new Jiffy-Lube and Discount-Tire stores. And Americans will then have the healthcare they want, the healthcare their competitors already have.

Sam Harris, the author of the post by JayB, thinks the world has a real problem on its hands with Islam because it never went through any sort of reformation, so its like a time-portal straight back to 7th century through which now pour millions of total fucking nut cases all riding horses of the apocalypse on a veritable suicide mission to kill the infidels -- now or later -- and meanwhile liberals got their heads up their asses with all their political correctness and shit.

Yeah, years ago I think I was able to see myself voting for McCain. It would have been a big mistake. Sure enough, kind of like voting for Lieberman.

McCain has always been hard-core in favor of a ban on abortion. In more recent years, on "Meet the Press" in year 2000, he stated a change of heart: If the fetus being carried was a result of proven rape or if the pregnancy would kill the mother, then McCain said abortion might be something he could tolerate. Said McCain, "I don't claim to be a theologian, but I have my moral beliefs." What this means, of course, is that for McCain the subject is not open to debate. To people who actually look at McCain at a level deeper than the MSM commentary that falsely portrays him as "centrist," it's always been clear that McCain takes a hard-right stance on many issues, including abortion. Moreover, I don't think McCain has ever been one to obscure his position on the issues. He just keeps his mouth shut, for the most part, and mostly all that sticks to his image is whatever the people want to see. It's been said that with Rudy Giuliani entering the Republican race for the 2008 presidency, the inevitable comparisons between Giuliani and McCain will expose McCain for the neocon and theocrat that he is. Not that the word "expose" is meant to insinuate McCain has been hiding, just that much of the public has not been paying attention.

While we pursued a blood enemy, Osama bin Laden, our Commander-in-Chief deserted us to go upon an adventure of his own unlawful choosing. In my opinion, his crime was capital and so should be his punishment. To blame a subordinate who refused to follow that commander into an unlawful aggression is like blaming a soldier who refused to burn a Jew under orders from the Reich. American soldiers have a duty, in principle and in the law, to disobey an unlawful order. I too would like to see a retrial, as it will provide opportunity to put the legality of the "war" on trial. It's going to happen, sooner or later, but it may as well happen on the watch of that noble son who is 1st Lieutenant Ehren Watada.

but the paraglider went up another few thousand feet higher than any of the mountains... On the side, glider pilots I've spoken with talk about altitude differently; that is, altitudes that climbers prove able to tolerate are considered to be more immediately deadly by the pilots. I don't understand why, but wonder if the physical activity of the climber somehow promotes respiration to an extent that allows the climber to remain conscious at an altitude at which a glider pilot will expect to pass out.
