    Happy 93rd!

"It is the mission of the Mises Institute to...encourage a revival of critical historical research, and draw attention to neglected traditions in Western philosophy." This flies in the face of mainstream conservatism today. Are you familiar with Heideggar's work?

Hey PP, is it safe to assume this guy is your hero?
  3. Has anyone had any experience with either of these? ? ? Molto Grazie
  4. Is one supposed to espouse GW because he has a MBA? That comes pretty close to ad hominem. All that proves is that he can jump through the hoops. Big deal. How is the weather in that bubble?
  5. I have the #1 and #2 dmm FCU's and I think they are great. They place well, they are light weight, and affordable (as far as cams go). Pro Mountain Sports on the Ave (if you live in Seattle) has them in all sizes.

  8. It will be interesting to see how the road to Three O'Clock Rock/Exfoliation Dome holds up after this storm. Those channels after the washout are going to be much worse, that's for sure.
  9. Indeed it is; much like the contradiction Bushco presents when they claim they are murdering to "spread peace throughout the region".
  10. Actually, there was one (CBS?), and the climber in the picture was flamed for "sewing it up".
  11. solid post. solid. have you ever listened to any of the dead shows from one of the acid tests? they're interesting!
  12. Here is to you Will . Finally someone posts something without an agenda. The debate that takes place on the subject always turns into an "us v. them". No one seems to have any real interest in learning anything; they just want to rationalize the reality they have chosen to make their life a bit more easy to manage. That rationalization is bull shit, and represents the thought process of a child. One can show stats, figures, graphs, histograms, and run regressions to support any "side". Big deal. The fact remains, very few people are interested in learning something new, they just want to feel better about themselves at the end of the day. That is so weak.....
  13. you can announce your candidacy from the top of city park after you free solo it; the masses will follow!

    Daddy Dubs

"Trying to eliminate Saddam... would have incurred incalculable human and political costs. Apprehending him was probably impossible... we would have been forced to occupy Baghdad and, in effect, rule Iraq... there was no viable 'exit strategy' we could see, violating another of our principles... Going in and occupying Iraq, thus unilaterally exceeding the United Nations' mandate, would have destroyed the precedent of international response to aggression that we hoped to establish. Had we gone the invasion route, the United States could conceivably still be an occupying power in a bitterly hostile land." - George H. W. Bush Little Dubs should have listened to Daddy.
  20. I also suggest practicing on the ground. Use rainy days, or days you can't find a partner, and get out there and place some pro wherever you can. Another way to take advantage of rainy or solo days is to set up a rappel with a friction knot so that you can place pro on the way down. The friction knot will allow you to hang there to fool around with the placement. It is also a good idea to do it without the friction knot so that you are forced to place with one hand while the other is holding your weight. Yet another thing while you are on rappel is to set up a gear anchor below the anchor you are rapping off of and put all your weight on the gear anchor. This way if the gear is bad you are on rappel and still safe. It is a good way to test gear without having to risk your life (unless your rap anchor fails!). Just a suggestion. As you said, though, just getting out there and climbing some trad routes is probably the best way to go, and I would always choose this over heading out and gaping alone . Have fun!
