I had this for far too long. First off: absolutely do NOT 'run through it'. Not unless you want to be one of those cases that medical types shake their heads about and talk about to their other patients. Second, as Mike said, check your shoes etc esp plantar fascitis. For myself, I had a pretty good case of it which lingered for years because I didn't know what to do about it. Finally, last year, I started seeing a massage therapist about it. He put me through a lot of pain but I'm back to running 6 miles again. If you work down near Pioneer Sq, I can recommend this guy highly.

Sorry, he's not going to turn 30,000 for a few more thousand posts. He's going to remain 29,000+ for awhile. It's harder to get dates with the hotties when you cross that 30,000 mark.

Ack. You're causing me to have grad school flashbacks....

mattp, that's my plan. now i just have to find someone who likes the idea. ;-)

Ade, thanks. I have the "Alaska: A Climbing Guide", I assume you mean that. I've read that but was just looking to find anyone's experience on the actual route. Best as I can reckon, along with the opinions of some others, NZ3 is probably the European AD grade, thus 3+ is AD+. Obviously (I hope) I'm not thinking of hopping onto this route without a bit more experience, but it's a goal to work towards.

Yeah, aren't you special. Give him a hand folks. If you people like you and Griz hadn't chimed in, it'd have been a page or so of people who know Hannah personally just giving her a high five. But, no, you had to make it sound like we'd annointed her the Living Goddess of Alpinism. Apparently, you don't undertand the concept of 'camaraderie' and 'esprit de corps'. You do seem to understand the concept of simply trying to 'get in a girls pants' though. This might be the root of your anger issues.

Well dip me in shit and roll me in peanuts! That changes everything doesn't it? I'm out of peanuts but are you saying that a comment from the Newbie at the climbing gymn should hold as much weight as someone like Barry Blanchard when referring to an Alpine climbing route? Joe knows his shit and doesn't roll in it. He's probably just a little baffled as to what all the hype is about, as am I. Good to see that Pandora her self is surprised at this thread and doing these climbs because she loves it, not to brag on cc.com otherwise I'd probably join Griz in the mud slinging. On that note congratulations Hannah, whoever you are. No one's hyping her as if she deserved a medal or the front cover or Alpinist magazine here, Einstein. The fact that you and Barry Whoever seem to think that we are says volumes about you and your ilk's reading comprehension skills, as well as your overly-sensitive, testosterone-poisoned egos. Maybe you and Barry ought to do a little soul searching and ask yourselves why you got so bent about it?

Is that some kind of cancer you get from lying face down? This is why I'm not a spelling nazi.

That's the best idea I've heard all day. Can they have the little spiky side cutters like in the old movies?

Did you ever consider that Osama is 'on the loose' because that's where Shrub wants him?

So: 1) Continue to respond militarily to terrorist threats. Continue the Lone Cowboy policy (anyone see NATO in the Middle East right now?) thereby over extending our military and destroying us financially. 2) Share intelligence with other countries, even though we can't seem to get our own government to share within itself and act on it in a timely manner. Expect them to return the favor, even though we've given them no reason to. Ensure that all intelligence data is 'clean' and hasn't been 'invented' by the politicians. Don't fuck over foreign intelligence agencies of our so-called 'allies' (oh, like we did to Britain). 3) Disdain diplomatic engagement. Sit back and wait and let millions live in poverty and oppression while their leaders fill their brains with tripe about how we're "The Great Satan" and responsible for all their woes. Hope that free democratic elections somehow spring out of the ground or that popular revolution occurs (except in countries where we get out oil from) in the face of a modern state-controlled military. In the event of the previous, hope that new state does not destroy itself in civil war or create a new oppressive regime while we sit back and watch and wait for new arms contracts and sources of cheap labor. In the event of spreading violence, see (1)

I can see it now: "Aw c'mon honey. I know you're tired but do you want me to get prostrate cancer?"

If they weren't going to cover you for denying you were climbing, do you think they were going to cover you if you told them, before hand, that you were? I doubt it. I've seen too many insurance policies where any sport involving ropes or climbing is excluded.
-
Having the insurance companies know you climb will only occur if a) you tell them (dummy!) or b) they've been data mining your purchases (boo!) and put 2 and 2 together or c) we get those lovely new national ID cards that tell everything about you but keep us 'safe' from terrorists (yay for freedom!). Once you become a registered climber, you will likely only be allowed to climb in designated 'safe' climbing areas, under supervision. If you cannot climb harder than 5.9 trad, you will have to go before an insurance industry certified board and take classes if you want to try a 5.10. Being a beginning climber will make your rates go up because you're a bumbly. Climbing harder will make your rates go up because you are assuming more risk. Your rates will not go down because you are 'healthier' (since, because of your shopping records, we know you have a penchant for cigs, booze, cheap hamburgers, and unprotected sex with goats). Most imporantly, your rates will not go down because you need to be subsidizing our profits and everyone else on the system who has something worse than you do.

Don't tell me you don't remember Church Lady!?!

Good post olyclimber! I thought minx had it all wrapped up there for Post of the Year but, boy, you sure brought back the men into the competition. You !!! I am DAMN proud to be a man in this day and age....

What's the difference between cheering them as we saw off their heads versus cheering them as we indiscriminately bomb their cities? You think your clever little bits of college rhetoric makes a damn bit of difference to them? I also think you're being hugely magnanimous as to what you think people in this country are capable of.

who let you outta the kitchen and gave you them shoes woman?!?
