  1. Yes, and that must be why you see so many Betamids pitched at the South Col on Everest. Any tent is wind stable, if you put enough work into building the campsite: Might as well build a freakin' snowcave and get it over with. Silly climbers.
  2. You sound sarcastic. My Betalight and my 20 degree down bag will take me ANYWHERE!!

    Baby Smashers!

Pope, you're a moron. Not that we didn't know that already, but still.
  4. Who says I'm Christian? Besides, killing him now will send him to Hell faster.
  5. The idea, with an ideal justice system, is that for a truly heinous crime, the culprit should be punished in the most severe manner available. To me, being put to death would be quite a punishment. So, you could argue that for certain crimes, the perpetrator should be put to death. Abortion is the killing of an unborn child (in some cases at least, gotta define 'child'). The child is innocent. The innocent should not be punished, so the innocent should not be killed, so the baby should not be killed, so the mother shouldn't be allowed to have an abortion. So here we go: death penalty is justifiable, abortion is not. Note that I'm just playing devil's advocate here, these are not necessarily my opinions.

    smasher.
  7. Break it up, girls.
  8. Sounds good to me. Say, Bronco, how's that penitentiary treatin' you these days?
  9. How does that affect anything? Inmates shouldn't have the same rights as the rest of us. For example, I would not support their right to own a firearm when they are in prison. But answer my question. Why doesn't everybody employ all the inmates they can?
  10. And also, is OP the ONLY business allowed to employ prisoners? If employing prisoners is such a HUGE advantage, why doesn't everybody do it?
  11. No, but that should be rectified by reducing the business' advantage, not by shutting down the program.
  12. OP announces end of program.
  13. Someone doesn't realize how much he relies on technology.
  14. New grades.
  15. And they're all from Seattle. I like Gary's quoting the Norwegian high school foreign policy experts.
  16. The reason is because most people on this site are alpine climbers at heart regardless of ability. I can surely appreciate someone doing some very hard technical climbing, but we're only talking about 30 ft of rock. If you want to truely stir the emotions of people on this board you need to post about a sick multi-day and/or mutli-pitch ascent. Search back through the posts about the Hubers on Zodiac or Dean Potter in Patagonia. People were giving them lots of props. Well put. I admire the strength needed to crank out hard little routes, but it doesn't interest me much. I must admit, the 'ethical debates', backstabbing, chipping, and shit talking associated with rock climbing in particular are major turn-offs. Give me mountains any day. I guess I'm just not social.
  17. Actually, the only reason that the 'mids would be weaker than a tent is 1. fewer guyline attachment points, and 2. the poles don't flex, the tent cannot 'give' with gusts of wind.
  18. Recommendations on s.
  19. Yet you do? You don't have an argument in your post. True, but the assembly lines is where many (most?) of these prisoner employees work. Ever toured a climbing gear factory? I have. They use unskilled workers in their assembly lines. Imagine that! What about all the hard work that the 'computer punchers' do making your life easier? Think about that next time that you log on and check your email, swipe a card at the supermarket, or use your cell phone. You just come off as a moron using this argument. Pretending that somehow white collar people don't work hard, and the poor blue collar underdogs are the ones that we should actually admire is ridiculous. You 'respect' them, yet you call them 'tweakers'. Hmmm... Here's my conclusion:
  20. Wouldn't your spray then be the demise of mankind, Dru?
  21. If you ski down what other people are climbing up, does that make you a good skier or a smart climber?
  22. Edmunds looks like good skiing....... Oh, nice TR, too.
  23. You likey the betalight? Best $159 I've spent, if that hour of rain and hail is any indicator. And for 16oz (sans stakes) the thing is HUGE. Easily fit two big people and their gear.
