FW- I don't know why you think that we have to agree with you? I think that many of us read your posts with interest. You at least make us think about our positions even if we disagree with you. The flaw in the argument is the presumption that we shouldn't disagree with you on certain issues. You hold certain position that your presume have no counter argument or at least you can't imagine how any reasonable person would. Well some of us do. Don't go away. Just enjoy the discourse. even those things that you hold to be self evident and w/o counter do have another side. if you go, we'll just have to torment PP mericlessly. think of peter!!!

Shouldn't you be spraying over at Ass.com with your fellow hate-mongerers? wait a minute -- FW is expressing a different view. i COMPLETELY disagree with him as usual but there is absolutely nothing wrong with they way he is expressing himself. it is certainly much more civil than some discourse on this site. he may not approve of Ivan's position but there's nothing wrong with him expressing it. If we chase off everyone with a different opinion, this place is no better than ass.com. things don't have to be one big giant group hug.

it is a valid topic but come on...adam corolla? i presented another alternative for you, if you insist upon focusing on the gender/race issue. the topic doesn't have to be black or female. why not hispanic or asian? it will undoubtedly be a national topic of discussion as the election nears but i hope that as voters we will rise above using that as our criteria.

i know it comes as a shock that i'm balking at decided who to vote for 22 months in advance of the elections but occasionally, i like to show some restraint. unlike kevbone, who should just be restrained.

Which is it? i don't know yet. i'll have to become more educated about both candidates. it could certainly be either of them. h/e it might be neither. they are not the only two options. my decision won't be made based on gender or race. i've liked what i've heard from obama but i haven't heard details yet.

i've toured with ilookeddown on many occasions. he is very aware of avalanche conditions and very safe, imo. it'd be interesting to know what the avy report for that day was? were there lots of people in the alpental valley that day?

a hispanic male govenor. hilary--she's bill's wife. too weird to vote for if we're making the decision based on "feeling" instead of logic. qualifications--not sure she's doing anything other than the same old thing. need to follow up on what she wants to pursue obama-sounds too much like osama, again if we're talking about "feeling". if we're talking about qualifications, too young and inexperienced. has some interesting ideas and some charisma

in carolyn's defense, my first instinct was the same as hers "creepy". then i thought about it a little more. it may actually be creepy but then again the guy could just be using the internet as a tool. or maybe he is a tool. i don't think that men in general can understand what sets of a woman's "creep" radar. we don't read a lot of news stories about men who were abducted by some psycho chick.

but archie, you've seen the people in Europe and elsewhere--their normal is not 30% of the population being obese. maybe we have a problem in the US of identifying normal. a) so many people are grossly overweight and out of shape that it seems "normal". particularly to those who are only moderately over weight and out of shape. and b) the idealized version of both men and women as so pervaded the media that it seems ubiquitous and "normal". Perhaps we so much of both extremes that we don't have any perspective on "normal". Caroline-- I really respect your opinion on the topic. I disagree to some degree though. I don't think anyone of either gender should be forced into any particular gender specific role. h/e i believe that there are certain traits that are more common in each gender. i think it's OK to acknowledge that there are certain personality traits that tend to be unique to each gender. this may not be true for the individual. people should explore whichever and whatever roles they want to take in their lives, relationships and activities. i just don't think it's realistic to pretend their aren't differences. men and women are different in more ways than just anatomy. i think that's pretty cool. the men i spend time with don't turn to me for a band-aid but i am the one that always remembers to bring them. it's all a matter of how you define your relationship with those you spend time with. by all means, pass on being the model for the bikini shoot but don't judge a woman that values that. i know plenty of women who know exactly what they're doing when they're using their good looks to make money. they're not dumb. who is getting used the woman who makes money modeling, or the guy who is paying for it? it's up to her to negotiate a good deal.
