By ERIC TALMADGE, Associated Press Writer Fri Jan 26, 10:42 AM ET TOKYO - Michael Jackson is back in the United States after living in Bahrain, France and Ireland. He emerged with his spokeswoman Friday to confirm to The Associated Press that he is back after more than a year in self-imposed exile following his acquittal in a high-profile child molestation trial that ended in June 2005. They also said he is on the comeback trail _ planning a pair of "fan appreciation events" in Japan in March, one of which will charge $3,300 for the opportunity to meet the Gloved One. "I can confirm that he is in the United States," spokeswoman Raymone K. Bain said. "We don't give out information regarding our client's whereabouts because of safety, and this is just an ongoing policy." During the brief conference call, Jackson read a statement prepared for The Associated Press about his plans to visit Japan and allowed only one question: How are you? "I'm fine, thank you," was his reply. Jackson, one of the best-selling artists of all time, said he has chosen to come back to Japan because of the strong support he enjoys there. "My friends and fans in Japan have been so supportive of me and my family for many, many years," he said. "My fans in Japan helped me achieve historic milestones in the music industry." Broderick Morris, the promoter working the Japan side of Jackson's trip, said they have sold 220 of 300 tickets to a "platinum VIP party" on March 8. Guests will have dinner, get autographed photos and be able to "meet and greet" Jackson for 30 seconds to one minute, he said. A less-exclusive party is scheduled for the following day. Jackson is not obligated to perform at either event, and promoters refused to comment on how much Jackson, 48, would be paid. Jackson made his first official foray back into the spotlight after his acquittal with an appearance _ again, in Tokyo _ to accept MTV Japan's "Legend Award." Last November, he allowed the syndicated TV show "Access Hollywood" to film him in the studio, working on music with producer will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas.

Wow-- I'm stunned. So many fucked up things about this thread. 1) the reminder of the underpinnings of christianity and the role of women. i guess i shouldn't need a reminder but i forget how appalling the bible is and grossly edited it has become over time. 2) more on the radar and more apalling than #1, the perverse value placed on virginity, family honor, and men's egos in some muslim countries 3)kevbone (btw- every lesbian in the country is pleased that you will not be having a sex change and don't want to be a woman)

that post was simplified for PLC, who clearly does NOT understand DNA.

I worry about the misuse of the DNA information in a criminal proceeding but I also have other concerns. Perhaps we nationalize healthcare. Even if we don't consider the patients whose care is funded by medicare/medicaid. If the government has DNA info in a database, how long before they start using for non-criminal issues such as healthcare decisions or premiums. "i'm sorry mr. smith, your dna shows that you're predisposed as a heart attack risk, you're not eligible to receive those services b/c you're going to die early anyway"

Siblings have very similar DNA. Although you could not use a sibling's DNA to conclusively prove that someone committed a crime, you could compare DNA found at a crime scene to DNA in a databank and determine that the DNA in question belonged to a close relative of the person in the databank. --damn that sentence is way too long-- This could certainly narrow the list of suspects or at least provide a lead. that said, i'm completely opposed to a DNA databank.

FW- I don't know why you think that we have to agree with you? I think that many of us read your posts with interest. You at least make us think about our positions even if we disagree with you. The flaw in the argument is the presumption that we shouldn't disagree with you on certain issues. You hold certain position that your presume have no counter argument or at least you can't imagine how any reasonable person would. Well some of us do. Don't go away. Just enjoy the discourse. even those things that you hold to be self evident and w/o counter do have another side. if you go, we'll just have to torment PP mericlessly. think of peter!!!

Yeah, those are the best two minutes of the day. bondage ducky begs to differ

kevbone = the creepy old uncle at family gatherings. ewwwwwwwww!

Shouldn't you be spraying over at Ass.com with your fellow hate-mongerers? wait a minute -- FW is expressing a different view. i COMPLETELY disagree with him as usual but there is absolutely nothing wrong with they way he is expressing himself. it is certainly much more civil than some discourse on this site. he may not approve of Ivan's position but there's nothing wrong with him expressing it. If we chase off everyone with a different opinion, this place is no better than ass.com. things don't have to be one big giant group hug.

it is a valid topic but come on...adam corolla? i presented another alternative for you, if you insist upon focusing on the gender/race issue. the topic doesn't have to be black or female. why not hispanic or asian? it will undoubtedly be a national topic of discussion as the election nears but i hope that as voters we will rise above using that as our criteria.
-
please allow me to correct you... he pays for that
-
i believe that ties up the match.

i know it comes as a shock that i'm balking at decided who to vote for 22 months in advance of the elections but occasionally, i like to show some restraint. unlike kevbone, who should just be restrained.
-
Well.....here is your chance. Which is it? i don't know yet. i'll have to become more educated about both candidates. it could certainly be either of them. h/e it might be neither. they are not the only two options. my decision won't be made based on gender or race. i've liked what i've heard from obama but i haven't heard details yet.
-
we havn't even come close to it yet. yeah, and we've had so many opportunites to decide
