  1. Ahh. the Durrance on Devils Tower. That was my first lead. Truly a very fun climb.
  2. I really like the metolius TCU's, but I haven't tried the aliens. The big advantage of an alien/tcu is that they are not as fat as camalot/friends (3 cams vs 4). So with a skinny cam you can set it in a narrow crack or pin scar that a bigger cam will stick out of. Really you'll need some of both eventually tho. Also some pink and red tricams cuz they
  3. ahhhhh. a lil' Trask. Can the world handle two of 'em?
  4. Hey I need to get out and climb Sunday and/or Monday. Lookin to do moderate fun crag stuff ala Outer Space or similar. PM me.
  5. well yeah. I was too young and too stoned to know better. But sometimes it takes a little push to get things moving in the right direction.
  6. Military skool sux. If he's anything like I was at 14... Well I wouldn't want to frighten you... I think the best deal for a rebellious teen is to get him into the mountains. NOLS, Nantahala, etc. worked for me and got me off the crack. Thanks mom and dad.

I remember that flick. Filmed in Calgary about 1985. You can find a copy on half.com
  9. Looks like it could get stuck too easily when retriving that rap line.
  10. Very Dumb thing: I rap'd off the end of the rope after doing an ice climb. As I got near the bottom I heard in my head someone yell "you're at the end of the rope" as the rope slipped through my break hand. I grabbed at the rope above the the fig'8 and swung my front points in just in time. So I figured that one of my buds had seen me and yelled out, except there was nobody there and no one around me. Freaky.
  11. I was living in Edmonton, Alberta. I was stoned most of the time so I don't remember too much.
  12. This site is climbing 'centric, but they have a good selection of notes and such. Oz climbing site
  13. Do the mounties have the new Becky book in stock yet?
  14. How's the twist work? The setup is just too manky w/o the knot. If a piece blows, you shock load the rest. That's bad juju. The trango piece is too expensive, too specialized.

Twin vs Half A pair of twins can have a *larger* impact force than a single 11 in some falls. I just bought a pair of halfs. Stratos 9x60s.
  16. well I got my Stratos 9x60's today. Fast service.

  21. Manu Chao; Proxima Estación: Esperanza. Although I understand some of it
  22. You should be fine. There may be snow in the evening, but it'll melt off when the sun comes out, but be prepared for wetness. The climbing is stellar tho, a blast to climb and the new area should be sweet. I've got an old guidebook (circa 1990 or so) but you should be able to pickup an updated one out there.
  23. Yeah I went and ordered them anyways. We'll see if/when they show up.
  24. That's fuq'n hilarious. I heard a similar thing once too from a group doing an intro class.
