  1. The rock looks like Icicle Buttress. I presume that one of the climbers is Pope?
  2. Did you just break the geode open? They look way cool if you cut them in half with a diamond saw and polish the edges. I have a geode I bought at a rock shop that in addition to having amethyst, has a wolframite crystal (tungsten mineral) and rutile crystals. It was from a bin that was supposedly solid geodes, but it was hollow. It had been sorted into the wrong bin. The dealer tried to charge me extra for it, but I wouldn't let him.
  3. That road is so bad that the oddes are better than even of doing damage to your car any time you drive it.
  4. stepped up to MILF Speaking of MILF, we haven't heard from Michael Layton in a long time. How's he mending?
  5. The book simply is too general, is all. It reminds me of the story of the architect and the engineer. The engineer learns more and more facts about fewer and fewer specialties, whereas the architect learns fewer and fewer facts about more subjects. Eventually the engineer knows everything about nothing and the architect knows nothing about everything.
  6. That might have been us. One other thing that happened at Poison Ivy Crack. A tick decided to bore his way into my belayer's shoulder while I was top roping the route. In seconds he had produced a bore hole and a huge welt. Nasty little bastard. I'm glad I didn't fall.
  7. Barry, you have a pretty good chance getting a permit on a weekday. Usually no lottery needed, except Friday-Sunday. Permits not required until after June 15.
  8. An enjoyable TR, to be sure. If I ever climb with you, I'll pass on the golden shower, thank you.
  9. Ah, well, perhaps another time. Yos told me all the pitches we did were harder than OS or Orbit. If so, no worries.

    The Future

Erik, that was a most out of characterist post for such a mellow fellow.
  11. I couldn't talk Yos into taking me up Outer Space. He'd done it four times before and it was old hat to him. Too bad. We did Canary on Sat. AM, then did all the 5.8's and 5.9's on the third tier of Bathtub Dome. Some have a feel similar to Planet of the Eights, whereas one or two have some vertical cracks. On Sunday, we did Planet of the Eights, then Poison Ivy Crack. I only noticed the poison ivy after I set my rock shoes on some of it. I must not be allergic anymore, because I haven't broken out. Yos got a cam stuck up near the crux and between us we spent 45 minutes trying to free it. We finally abandoned it and left it to the amusement of others. In the afternoon, we went over to Purina Crag and did Ordinary Crack, 5.8, which I led, and a 5.10a three star route, which Yos led. It was a nice one and worthy of its rating.

    trask

trask is primarily a weekday sprayer, although you might catch him in the evenings on weekends. Probably out on his boat right now.

    Bling Jam

Uh, would someone please translate that first sentence into English?
  14. They join Al Queda.
  15. Anything can happen to a guy who is experiencing "spray withdrawl syndrome".
  16. As the saying goes, "Don't knock it until you've tried it".
  17. Posted by climber21. Sounds like Johnny Destiny... posted 2003-03-29 17:52:48 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am sorry i have come to this thread. I did so only thinking that Diego here was trying to say that this war was over sex, and i couldn't imagine how anyone would come up with that. That said, i am proud to say that, not being married, i have not had sex. In fact, i've not even kissed yet. Many of you are probably thinking, "Man, climber21 must be horribly ugly or something..." Actually, i have had opportunities, but i realized how cheap it would be, because i have not honestly been in love yet, and i believe that everything physical like kissing and sex should be with one you truly love, and i just haven't found her yet. And when i do find her, i won't have sex until we're married. I'm also proud to say that i'm not so unique as many may think in this stance that i have on this subject. All my close friends who are still unmarried are also virgins (girls and guys), and many of them (some even a little older than me) have also not kissed and are also saving the first experiences for when it is right. And i can tell you quite confidently that we are happier, more joyful, more content, and lead much better lives than all i know who have had sex outside of marriage, drink heavily, and smoke.
  18. Better yet, bring along a stainless steel, 1" #12 machine screw with a washer and an aircraft nut, or drill out the front rivets and replace them now so they won't break on you, as they did on me. I broke the two front rivets on both snowshoes on the same scramble up Lookout Peak with klenke.
  19. We're counting on predicted cooler weather on Sunday-Monday. So just how cold would one want it to be at the lake at say 5 am? 25 degrees max?

    I'm FUBAR

Have fun. We're going climbing in the mountains.
  21. I've got enough people at this point. Wish us luck. We'll be camping on Sunday and climbing on Monday.
  22. MtnHigh, you should give credit where credit is due. Your inspiration came from Tom Lykis' discussion on the radio last night. Good job at thematic development, though.

    insignificance

Yes, but if you were there in a spacesuit, you would perceive it as hot or cold, depending on how much solar radiation was striking your body.

    insignificance

You take all that away and you take the trask out trask. You'd have, well I'm not sure what you'd have. He'd be a ghost of his former self.
