  1. Go ahead and laugh, you fool.
  2. Rather, you mean gauche.
  3. Rope team of 2 or 3? Miraculous that you avoided serious injury. What was involved in getting out of the crevasse?
  4. I have read about experiments in which entangled photons have been made to travel great distances before being "queried" as to their properties. They found that no matter what the distance, forcing one photon to give up information caused the partner photon to do likewise. But we know that this phenomenon cannot be used to transmit information faster than the speed of light.
  5. Perhaps we Americans and the Europeans are no longer so different? MacDonalds has worked it's magic.
  6. How about a button called "Active Topics (Non-Spray)". I find that with all the 6 word posts in spray from the same 3 avatars, Active Topics fills up, and some good threads get buried. The only way to find them is to go through the menus one at a time.
  7. No. That's what brain stems are for. You just put your finger on something. Spray these days is dominated (at least with regard to post count) by about three or four brain stems. These brain stems manage to get out about 6-8 words and "Continue", before the brains of their owners can even register what is going on. The result has been pretty damn boring. When I start looking at RC.com, I know the situation has become desperate.
  8. The universe isn't really a vacuum. It is filled with a Higgs Ocean.
  9. You need to read up on the subject. The photon has a dual nature. It is both a wave and a particle, but depending on how it is measured it can appear as one or the other. If you find that one of the two is behaving as a particle then, you will find that the other is also. How are you violating Einstein's postuate? The speed of light in a vacuum is c, but the velocity is slower through matter, like the glass or plastic of a fiber optic cable.
  10. Rudy those are not uncommon limitations. Everybody has some "imposed" limitations.
  11. A member of the CC.com Pantheon.
  12. I thought the smartest guy on cc.com would post this first, but now I guess I'll have to. I thought this was pretty cool stuff. Very weird stuff indeed. I don't see any reason why this experiement shouldn't work. Receiving a signal before it is sent.
  13. What? No bivies on Superslab?
  14. I've seen enough. Let's trade Hasselback and Alexander and bring in some offensive-line talent. I think we could get it done without those guys. Holmgren should NOT be in a big hurry to get Hasselback back out there. What's the sense in rushing an injured player to return when is replacement is doing so well?
  15. A toast to a return to hard-headedness!

    I'm Drunk!

Damn, it's been a long time since we've had an "I'm drunk and I'm in..." thread!
  17. Not the point. We can do something about weight. But short of radical surgery, we cannot change our stature.
  18. There were some fine climbs put up last winter that I would like to try to repeat. Some were quite moderate and within my own limited capabilities.
  19. I'd be willing to buy a beer to the first person who can prove there is a single person in the world who weighs 270 lb, regardless of height, who can climb 5.14.
  20. Did you or did you not say you can climb 5.14 and that you weigh 270 lbs?
  21. You are soooo full of shit!
  22. When you are at a party, do you always blurt out the very first thing that pops into your mind?

    Peak Oil

Peak Global Oil Production is About 25 Years Away
  24. That's total bullshit. If you want an all volunteer armed forces, you need programs like this. Do they think we can get by without an army? Do they think you can have an army and no draft when you hamstring the ability to recruit. You can't have it both ways. It's not the military's fault that it has been misused by Bush and Company. Don't take it out on them.
