Holy crap! Is this the private property where the owner has been totally pissed that climbers have been ignoring his "please don't climb here" riff? If it didn't set you up for a trespassing charge, I'd think that a call to the sheriff is certainly in order! Congrats on surviving so that you can raise your kids. Christ!

I'm sure we've all had those moments where we get high up, and go for it anyway even when our brains are saying "You dumb fucking idiot". I have (never as a guide though). More than once I'm embarrassed to admit, on Rainier too. As you get older that cools off and you wise up some usually. If you are reading this and are new and coming out here from Chicago or are not local, hire a guide. It's much cheaper than dieing. In fact, that guide posting up above sounds like he's got his head screwed on right. Its about the process, and you can have a hell of a good time just getting out into the snow and the wild at elevation even if you don't summit as long as you are with good folks. As part of that equation, smart = good. They still haven't released the name of the deceased climber yet. My sympathies are extended - I hope his family and friends find peace.

I could see that with a heavier, older person *cough* me *cough, but dude, you're like lighter, younger and in shape! WT hell? 3 feet? I'm seriously considering the 30' highballing I still do on occasion. Last time it was damp, and I was wondering how far up my thighbones would go if I screwed up and popped off.

They were not mine Plaidman, although if I could get that for the 52 or whatever I own I'd be a rich man. Now I wish I hand' painted some gaudy BC colors on them and written my name in every damn sling. Or maybe I could trade them for a few Forrest Titons. .... ? Where's all the math genius's when you need them?

Crazy stuff. $610 for 5 on ebay. Not too beat up though. http://cgi.ebay.com/ALIEN-CAMS-set-five-climbing-protection-/190400620557?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c54c2e80d Dude said "This is a set of 5 Alien cams. I don't know how to describe the sizes, other than to say the colors are black, blue, yellow, green and red. I bought these new about 10 years ago. I have only used them a few times. They have never had to hold a lead fall. I'm selling them because I have resorted to indoor climbing in my old age (50). I have been slowly winnowing down my rack, and these are the next to go."

If they toss a nuke on it, the Russian scientific prediction is that the radiation will only have the half life of this thread.

:kisss: There's a "Gun Card" someplace? I don't think that I have any of those "Gun Cards" although I do have a shitload of real guns. Shitloads. I'd probably buy a "Gun Card" if that was a card you shot at .....jus' sayin'. There, hope you feel better now T. Rock River Arms LAR-15 Couple of X-6 Mastershop series pistols Sig P220 Panther Arms DPMS LR-308 24 (it's a tuned .308 for accurate long range shooting) A-3 Upper Bennie Coolie Brake (JP) Timney Trigger Harris Pivot Bi-Pod Tac Latch Leupold 6.5-20x50 MK-4 side focus and TMR Reticle Warne Rings Colt Cadet .22 Para Slim Hawg .45 Les Baer 1911 Sig .45 220P Earnest Langdon Edition What the heck is this? Some 9mm. CZ tactical Sport, Sig 226 X-5 and a Sig Blackwater 226. Target practice Shotguns Wilson combat protector 1911 .45. Of course, if it was up to you, you'd get the population all disarmed so that we could just sit around and talk about our need for freedom as it got encroached. Much like Mexico, where they have a strong constitution AND strong gun control that has effectively gotten all guns out of honest citizens and allowed the guns to be concentrated in the police (who are the ones doing a lot of the murders and kidnapings) and the drug lords. 200,000 people protested against the police and that bullshit they are pulling in Mexico City, but really, all they can do is talk. Those with the guns makes the rules. 23,000 people were killed last year in Northern Mexico last year. Good thing they have gun control.

Another Happy finish!

Nice, almost shaved your time in half in a single day. You guys have a good trip to Yos tomorrow, I'll cross my fingers you get good weather.

Mark, is this what you are referring too?

be assured that any unmarked gear you have is mine did i leave it on the dawg? Dawg? Damn, you must be getting in some strange climbing areas if I've never heard of them. http://cascadeclimbers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/960437/Red_Doval#Post960437 Is it's yours? Very likely it is as most other sane people mark their stuff- you can have it back. $10 service fee. LOL! When you come over for it we'll fix your harness at the same time.

OK... :kisss: Hope that helps.

Well, I made both of our rings and out of silver, not gold, it's true. (Had I known that I could have fished one out of a box...hmmmm) It's currently 2 big drills, not one, as well. As far as the womanizing republican thing goes. Ouch! Same woman for 30 years and no other, and I voted for John Kerry and have on occasion voted for many other dems (and repubs) here and there. I try to vote for the person and not the party, which explains why the traitors son, Al Gore jr., didn't get my vote. I often find that the things I really care about - no one running should be getting my vote. Repubs are often all mouth on freedom until their personal morality get involved and then they want you to go to their church or to jail. Screw them. Fiscally, we need to get the budget under control and I don't care what brand they claim to be, but it's #1 on the radar for our country. Bush went crazy on running us into the hole. And any more, I'd prefer any candidate who will honestly say they are a "tax and spend" liberal (Obama) over a guy lying about it and is in actuality a "borrow and spend" conservative (Bush) any day. We'll get there anyway, but as a country we'll wind up in hell and hock up to our necks to China much slower with the tax and spender. If Clinton would come back and take another shot at balancing the budget, he'd be my man for the job, despite the onerous restrictions on weapons he initiated while in office. After Clinton was in office it wasn't in my mind that anyone as the next President would or even could toss us off the economic cliff so fast and so far as Bush did. My wife and I often split and cancel our votes. We share our research and thoughts on that before we vote, and occasionally one of us will change our mind because of it. I climb with both side of the fences and your politics don't matter to me. Same with religion. Now as far as the call goes, ever try picking up yer phone? :-) I left you a message. _____________________________________________________________ Sherri, you already give us all great joy with your beautiful works of art. I carry the memory of them in my head and occasionally they'll just pop in there, thank you for that. I'd tie in for a lap or 2 up the rock with you anytime. :kisss:

LOL! true dat (before I got the arthritic fingers anyway), but I do climb with other people too. One young 5.12 stud who could have claimed perfection in my eyes before this event (you know who you are LOL!) dropped a biner full of like 4 of my brand new DMM offsets off the ramp pitch of the SE corner, the ensuing hilarity later of wading through the thigh deep poison oak on a hot day to find them was interesting. I did learn that there is much more oak there than I had ever noticed before. My dovals are black, although it you found it on the ground that's now called called trash, and now "booty" you own it. Congrats! The one I found on my rack and was trying to find an owner for is red. Maybe thats just the karmic thing at work. You lose one then you get one just show up? Ok- sold: I'm keeping the red one.

LOL! I've actually known who I am for some time in fact. Some punk assed jackass who needs his teeth knocked down his throat sends me one single email with a couple of trys at swear words and I'm being stalked? NOT! Ha ha! Wish that was all anyone ever had to endure in life! You should have seen how he attacked Mister E /Skip and Anastasia earlier. So I properly jumped his ass over that crazyness. I could have sat back and been quiet but it's not my way when I see someone out of line and hurting others. So he's still resentful cause he's a punk-assed bitch. That's all. No big deal. He might grow out of it in a couple of years. Nobody here ever stalked me that I know of..... yet:-). Got argumentative on a personal level with Pat here I suppose but I think we both grew up a tad and moved up and on. You ever look at the way these guys on CC.com mix it up almost everyday? Holy shit....here, check it out: http://cascadeclimbers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/961549/all/Fairness Wow! Damn good thing most of these guys aren't armed and live near each other. LOL! Of course, there climbing areas would be less crowded of course! Woot! Take care all: Bill

That story was from Steve Roper, 1st ascent quite a bit of time after a fatality in the Lost Arrow chimney.

Interesting, but I'm withholding judgment until I hear from the monkeys about all this.

Cool study, especially the dog thing. I wonder what would happen if one group of Monkeys had to work their asses off and pay a lot in taxes so that the other monkey group could just sit on their fat monkey asses eating bananas all day.

What kind of crazy stuff is this fall in Yos where our bros abandoned a body to go climb...I thought we helped our brother climbers. Always. The post about itself has started quite the shit storm of protest.

Grades and Differences Erie vs Frenchmans
billcoe replied to Pilchuck71's topic in Rock Climbing Forum
That's mostly it! You're an athlete Pilchuck! I was climbing 11s Ok when I was light, actually was over 12 for a tad (for me that means not hanging) and it's been going down a grade or 2 every year and few pounds since. Then last Sunday I wussed and pussed on Bewitched, a friggan bolted 5.9, even grabbed a quickdraw while following. It was raining and it was the 2nd pitch, but sheese..... It's strength to weight ratio with climbing specific practice is all. Of course, I need to lose pounds as well (he says as he sips his red wine). Been working out and generally have had a great lead head for cracks/gear routes outside. Maybe it's just still early in the season. The other thing is to be aware that running 5.10 laps up lumps in a gym will not help you get up 5.10 cracks outside, in fact it may be counterproductive. Climbing hard (insert whatever you are working on, offwidths, fist cracks, thin cracks etc) will best be learned by following them, or to a lesser degree - toproping them. I think following is the best as you have to pause in the very same spots the leader paused to put in pro. So you might need to look at your partners. I know some of the young guys I climb with could benefit with a stronger partner and I tell them so. Shit, "don't hang out with old pussys all the time I tell them...." but they keep coming back anyway. Good luck! Don't wait too long or if my experience is any guide, you'll be old, crotchety and fat before you know it:-)
