If you like scenic steeps, take skis. It's nothing too extreme, and I think it might be the best all-around line to ski on Hood. If the conditions don't look good for skiing (even after softening as you climb and hit the ridge), then just descend the south side. Just a thought...

In the right conditions, one can carve on 55. I think the rating system is good for what it is. Think of it theoretically as rating the relative difficulty of all descents given the exact same conditions. In perfect corn we can demote anything to S0 sweet.

Just for clarification of the route, here's a useful photo from Eldorado: The green dot is where we camped. -

Sam, it's just a Black Diamond Alpine Bod. I stylishly sported it from car to car to emulate Crazy_Jeff. Just to make the download time on this thread a little more unbearably long, here's a pic of Ben off the top: -
No shit, how can you people be happy someone is going to jail? That's fucked. Obviously none of you have ever been to jail.

Definitely good stuff. The ticket was almost free after factoring in the .

Props to the patroller. I've been up there, and that is truly sick.

Does anyone still use locking binners on Screamers

*Geeky Physics Post Alert* Well, to put it precisely, we know there is a non-zero mass difference between different types of neutrinos, and so they can't all be massless. There are three types of neutrinos in the Standard Model of particle physics, but we already know it's wrong because it only allows massless neutrinos. A fourth neutrino might help with certain aspects of solar models. Sorry, it's an involuntary reflex. -

Nice, Josh. As if I wasn't stoked already, now I'm really frickin' stoked. -

Further Approach Notes: If Josh will be driving, do something to wear him out. Driving his car back to Seattle kicks ass. -
RuMR, It's March now. The real ski season is almost here. Get a grip, and learn to rip. Sky

Oh, the beta, the horror, make it stop!!!

That's pretty funny, 'watching cool guy skiers...' Moguls are a condition the BC lacks, which actually provides a reason to go to the resort. When I was in high school, moguls were my favorite thing to ski. I sought them out. I've never needed an ice bath. Nothing could be better for forcing you to learn balance and react quickly on your skis. I still like moguls when they are covered with soft fresh. International at Alpental half way through the day after a wet, heavy one foot dump is almost as fun as any other skiing experience.

Nice picture Alex, that looks like an enjoyable little climb.

I alternate between the wiggle and the swerve. I prefer the wiggle, though, because it involves more of those weightless moments for which I live and ski. Bounce, bounce, bounce... it's like sex, but you don't have to get all emotional and committed with the snow. Well, actually, I guess it's more like sex than I thought.

Josh: just like this... http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/threadz/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/74167/page/0/view/collapsed/sb/5/o/all/fpart/1/vc/1 God damn I'm crackin' up here! -
There are so many quotes here that demand replies. I won't bother, but I will cherish this thread forever. Ross: you rock brotha'. Forever reinforcing the creed: I'll go take a look for myself.

Holy shit, this is hilarious! I never saw this thread until now. Who is this rperitore character? It's too bad TeleRossPeritore wasn't around back then to hook up with him. Helicopter my ass. Sage advice on the first page champs.

Sorry you had to miss out, you overweight desk monkey. I'm sure you found some trouble yourself over the weekend though, eh? Here's a picture of Ross from the ski: -
It would be pretty fucked if you had some snow between your beacon and your chest and your beacon gave up on you. Etc, etc. Sorry to trash your idea, it's always easier to bring 'em down than to create.

Hey man, sick flicks. I got nothing against snowboarders. I was just taking issue with the jump turn statement (Thus three pictures of jump turns). And I'll live up to the dinner and drinks. Eveyone have a great weekend!
-
I have nothing to bitch about, but I would like to point this out... This guy was clearly in over his head. This guy too And what was this chump thinking? There is a proper place for everything, and the proper place for snowboarders who are learning to scrape the snow off steeps would be in a resort. 'Nuff said. I would like to treat anybody who skis one of these routes without jump turns, or any snowboarder who rides one of these routes at all, to a nice dinner and a few drinks. Cheers, Sky

Justin- I'd be more than happy to do something unfun with you, seeing that is my specialty. Or even better, have Jeff take you somewhere. Ha ha.
-
Nice one. I saw your tracks along the top of the ridge from high on the Reid HW today and that alone got me super stoked.

Call the fahkin WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAmbulance, Winter rules, we got a bomber weather window here, and you're still bitchin' about it. I don't wanna hear some shit about school-skip a day. Spring's gonna rule even more. AHhhh yeah.
