Well, it seems to work fine for both giving a signal and searching. Does anyone know the reason they advise against rechargeables? If it's just because some rechargeables tend not to do well in the cold or lose their charge quickly then I don't care. I carry extras and it seems to work. I don't like buying batteries all the time. Does anyone have more information about rechargeables in beacons?

I know that my Tracker (2002?) has slight issues with some of the rechargeable AAAs I have. Last time I reloaded them they weren't all making good contact, then I exchanged two and they were in their sockets much more snugly; it seems to work fine and reliably now.

Too bad they're 176s and you have Fritschis on 'em (strike 1, strike 2). I love the graphic. I'll give you $69 for the skis only just so I can ogle the graphic. How does that sound?

The McMillan Spires are to the right of the picture. The highest peak in the photo (at least by appearance) is Inspiration. To the left is Pyramid and at the far left is Degenhardt. On the other side of the notch between those two is the DEGENHARDT GLACIER. Yeah.

Such a fun climb. Cool picture Chuck. Here's a picture of Ross going UP the lower part of the same Chimney.

Jay, Why don't you tell us how you really feel? (I do sympathize though.) Sky

What about that picture could possibly make you think of summer? Nice royalty photo Ponzini, represent the crown!

We rapped off two trees. For the climb, the total pro used was 1 screw, two pickets and two trees. We had little nuts, but decided to just use the big ones instead.

There were some funny posts here. What happened? Why the moderation? Reminds me of when someone took the funny posts where Ray and Mike flamed some Coloradan after I posted pictures from skiing the North Face of Shuksan. Seriously, what gives? Don't say anything funny! When does banter become intolerable spray? Did somebody complain? Anyway, I want it to go on the record: DirtyHarry skied Da Toof on skate skis. NICE WORK FOO!

Here's a picture of Eric above the bottom.

No raps at the bottom. I did a little boof onto some disappointingly-unforgiving crust (harder than I had expected) at the lowest bulge. One last spinal readjustment over the bergschrund and our rewards were never-ending crust on moderate terrain to the car.

Here's a picture of Eric 'skiing' just below the top.

What're you guys trying to say? The TR totally says 100'!

I meant 100', OOPS.

Climb: Chair Peak-North Face Date of Climb: 1/25/2006 Trip Report: "The Electric Chair" Eric and I climbed and skied the North Face of Chair Peak yesterday. I really wanted to do it Tuesday but nobody could go. Ross is on some 'I gotta get ready for a two-week trip to rock climb in the desert sun' bullshit. At least Eric could muster Wednesday. The day-late penalty was ubiquitous crust. We simulclimbed about 5 100' pitches. I stopped at a tree to rerack below a cruxy looking spot near the top. "Hey Eric, want to do a lead so you can say you pulled your weight?" "Sure you shit-talker." Eric styled his pitch, with an undercling to boot, before I followed and we simuled another half pitch to the top. Forget the crust, there's powder right underneath it! Eric had brought the oh-so-appropriate Karhu Jaks for the descent. He wasn't throwing the towel and I sure as hell wasn't going to tell him what he could and couldn't do. I'll let Eric speak for himself, but I skied with two 15m raps. (The rappel spots are the magenta dots on the route photo.) My sidestepping quotient was a little high, but I did make turns on every section I didn't rap. The turns off the top above where we rappeled the highest 70-degree ice bulge were pretty damn exhilirating. "Look ma, I'm rapping switch!" The weather had turned into a snowy whiteout by the time we got off the face. I made it to my intramural game at the IMA on time and balled hard on mofos. Yeah.

Were it not for the clouds, Boston would be hidden behind Sahale and its sexy appendage.

That's the south side. Looks like a pretty sweet ski descent eh?

We skied POWDER.

Looks like she's got the right idea to me.

Watch for the ghosts!

We skied it all. There was a nice sled track to the Mountaineers Ck TH though; it made for easy kick-and-glide up the road.

Caveat dormior That was pretty quiet for us. Making noise is fun, especially when you eschew sleep to ski all night.
