Now that he's gone, you want to pretend that he never existed? That's not what I'd want for me.

Yes, now we have to write it Classic/Speed http://www.life-link.com/dynafit_bindings.htm Ahh, you said brakes! Excuse me, my reading comprehension is lacking this afternoon.
-
Get the Classics. The Comforts have more plastic and the brakes suck. I haven't noticed any added release problems with the shorter pins on the Classics. They're lighter, cheaper, and better. The Verticals are retarded. The Comforts dumb down Dynafits; the Verticals dumb them down more.

Hunter orange: Looking for climbers to scalp. Bwahaha.

Farther to the right where there are fatter icicles.

I know this funny story about a gnar-gnar skier dude with a trick watch. He liked to ski lots of str8lines. The watch had this feature that used GPS or some shit to calculate his velocity. He was all about max speeds. So he's straight-running the SW Chutes on Adams, late in a good year when the line is practically a mogul field. He fell, knocked himself out cold, and regained consciousness with his watch reading 50mph or something like that. ahswort_j could tell us about it in much better detail.

A safety break might be a good idea before we try this little stunt.

I really didn't mean to motivate long-haired climbers to come in search of haircuts. Should be all right though, as long as you wear a helmet and shoulder pads.

Dear CascadeClimbers, Please quit trying to ice climb in the Alpental valley. There is way too much snow. You will surely die in an avalanche. Everything is just a snow slog. Ice climbing must be better elsewhere. Also, you are likely to get a haircut from a skier hucking your little "crux pitches" during a fabulous extremo white-room descent. With kind regards and best intentions, skykilo Better than ice climbing: Photo courtesy of Tony_Bentley. These icicles are fatty now. I saw two "ice climbers" playing at the base of this formation just yesterday. Haircut, haircut, haircut... Thank you for allow skier to post.

Nice photos, Blake. -
Noice. An exceptional retard could manage to fall in the creek. The landings are so fawking fat, it shouldn't even count as hucking right now.

You lack imagination. I can get much more stupider.

I have ditched the beacon many times for the hallowed one-day push. It's a delicate balance equation with risk and weight both being important factors.
-
True. Approach/deproach. Stick to the steeps!

Avalanches seldom release on slopes shallower than 25 degrees (of course an avalanche running from a slope high above could still cross such a slope). The angle most likely to avalanche is 38 degrees, while the probability of release at higher angles decreases drastically because of constant sluffing. It's the approach that'll get you. Your statement doesn't really make sense. I typically take a beacon, but I consider myself primarily a skier. While a beacon may someday help, it is a very poor insurance plan. SKIERS SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO SKI POWDER WTF!? THE DANGER IS TOO HIGH!!!

Why should anyone stop doing anything because of this situation? Don't get me wrong; I feel for those guys, especially K., who is probably in a snow cave in close proximity to the worst possible place to be stuck high on Mt Hood. But it's amazing how the misfortune of a small number of individuals gets blown out of proportion. In the Washington papers today: at least three individuals died in the most recent wind storm. Should people quit living in the PNW? Why don't we feel the same sharp sympathies as much for these three unfortunate folks who were just minding their business, even being good consumers, not foolishly climbing mountains? (These are rhetorical questions.) Life is fatal.

Since it's not on Mike's blog yet, I thought I'd post this crucial info here: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/traveloutdoors/2003479825_webrainier15.html That's right, just in time for Arc's epic outing, people are free to enter the park!

Hells yeah, Timmay!

Balance, grasshopper. Who'da thought The Pope was a Zen Master? I got tennis elbow from logging 70 days busting my ass touring one year, while also putting too much weight on my arms because I hadn't perfected my skinnning technique.

Have fun Dave, wish I could join you! Looks like conditions should get progressively better through the week.

I was just thinking about you while driving by the reservoir. Cool way to use your expertise to see some scenery.

It was way better today than yesterday!

Quite the ribald riparian, aren't you?
