  1. I have an Onkyo tuner (not great but it's lasted years and really puts out a lot of power) with a Kenwood turntable (early 80's vintage direct drive), and early 90's bose speakers that don't split up the sound very well, but they drive hard and don't distort. There's nothing like hearing Tom Waits screaming at concert volume in you living room!
  2. And thanks for the beta on Debrye. Fence, check out Lali Puna, mellow spacey IDMish German electronica with lyrics (although one song has lyrics that are so dumb it's hard to get past).
  3. Lucky Mother fucker. Prefuse played last night at Chop Suey and I totally spaced it untul around 11:30 when I was going to bed.
  4. Dude, I don't know very many people who are avid listeners of electronic music who like moby. Check out: Delarosa and Asora Prefuse 73 (same guy as above) Plaid Amon Tobin Boards of Canada
  5. Hey Fence, I'm a fan of Godspeed as well. It's okay, I think it's an acquired taste. Few people are really gonna dig it on the first listen. Good call on Interpol too. I was just listening to that while grocery-getting this morning.
  6. Funny, my post would be exactly the same, only replace your home with Quakertown, Pennsylvania. I was obsessed with mountain all through my childhood. Since then I've been all around it, on top of it, and inside it. Iain, I think that I became a geologist because of the Mt. St. Helens issue of National Geographic. I remember staring at those photos for months.

    Rad

Dude, it starred Bart Conner, the olympic gold-medal gymnast (at least I think he was a gold-medalist).
  8. Pics from this weekend in the North Cascades. This was my friend Mike's first ski trip in Washington. After our first run on Saturday, Mike said, "I just decided I'm going to live in Seattle."

    uhhhh yeah

Just drop your load and delete Necronomicon's threads already, sheesh.
  10. Oh, yeah. Bring a fishing rod. You might catch some trout (although the sucker population has been taking over in recent years)
  11. Cool I've always wanted to do the upper section, I've only done the lower section. Last time I was there I saw some groups going into Upper Death Hollow from below (From the point of intersection with Boulder Mail Trail). I think more than one group does it a year, but you're almost guaranteed to have it to yourself. The lower part of the canyon only has one real section of narrows and the rest of the hiking is only ankle deep. But the upper part is full of potholes. Have fun! Lucky bastard. Try to do the exit onto the Escalante River early in the day because it gets hot down there by this time of year.
  12. By Box Death Hollow, do you mean the upper sections of Death Hollow in Escalante (above the Boulder Mail Trail)?

    stickers?

You HAVE to make this into a sticker TimmAy. It'll be a top seller for sure.
  14. Can we claim Neil Young?
  15. Leonard Cohen (he is the real thing) For newer stuff check out: Palace/Will Oldham/Bonnie Prince Billy (all the same guy) The album Days in the Wake is quintessential Nina Nastasia Giant Sand/Howe Gelb - especially "chore of enchantment". (2/3's of Giant Sand are now Calexico)
  16. easy for you to say e-rock...what have you contributed to this conversation? what!?! i cant hear you!?! nothing! have you read my links? have you actually read all my posts? or have you just read the last page and shot your mouth off ...next you are gonna say that you are gonna kick my ass again... puhleeze... Oh indeed I've read the whole thread and many (though not all) of the the links. And I haven't written because folks like MattP and Ursa_Eagle are much more eloquent than I could possibly be in these debates. I learn a lot from reading what they say, and I agree with most of it. Also please provide the exact link that proves beyond all doubt that I have ever in my life threatened physical harm against you. Don't just SAY where, but provide the link. Those who know me, know that I never say such things. But this is exactly the sort of historical inaccuracy I have come to expect from you. I can't wait to see how you back-pedal away from this one. Especially when you continuously berate others for IMPLYING that you said something that you didn't. Prove to me that you haven't just slandered me, Fence_Sitter.
  17. I have never seen a more clear-cut case of insecurity and intellectual inferiority in all my life. And yes that means you Fence_Sitter. And because you've repeatedly berated people and called them stupid, I'm calling it exactly how I and many others see it. Take your ritlin, in fact snort it, because your dosage isn't high enough.
  18. I will, soon. I've got an old friend from SLC who lives up there now. 5.12 climbing rope gun. I hate following his leads actually.
  19. Hey drul, you coming down to Worfless anytime soon?
  20. [\sniveling] But but but we're just righting our past wrongs [\sniveling]
  21. To get those just-out-of-reach potato-chip edges with your fingernails.
  22. king_of_freshies??? Who's that guy? Is he still around?
