  1. don't bring it up! theft of public art pisses me off like nothing else
  2. in general, progressives do not make stuff up to cast doubt. the smear campaigns orchestrated by conservatives have reached nauseating levels long ago. there is simply no comparison. to be repeated long enough, the charges have to be picked up by the mainstream media in some way. name *one* smear campaign orchestrated by progressives that was picked up the mainstream media? do you mean to say he wasn't? his published record does not account for several month he was supposed to serve and nobody has stepped up to confirm he was present. i believe that for someone who started a war of agression and has little problem sending people to war, this is a point of utmost relevance. do you mean to say the bush and the saudi royal family aren't on a first name basis. do you mean to say that bush and cronies aren't deep in business dealings with the saudis? do you mean to say that saudis do not own 7% of investments in the US? are not these relevant facts to a discussion of 9/11? do you mean to say that halliburton has not profited from the unnecessary privatization of armed forces, no-bid cost-plus contracts in war zones and board members like cheney who appear to be unable to ever recognize ethical conflicts where policy-makers and business men are one and the same? let's not mention the billions of dollars disappeared. as you said yourself, repeating a lie often enough is designed to, at least, cast doubt. good try but no, moore's film wasn't full of this sort of thing. can you provide an example of something moore made up to smear bush? no, progressives, don't do what conservatives and their media did to clinton, maccleland, maccain, etc ... name just one major smear campaign orchestrated by progressives.
  3. szyjakowski- since i have not seen it live (not much of munch's stuff in general), i didn't know until i googled it: 91X74cm. i'd like very much to see the painting someday. bronco: i think having the statue there can be seen in many different ways and i don't think it implies support for the ideology. apparently the intent was purely artistic as it is quite well done. my comment about the troll was for fun; don't read anything else into it.
  4. hey!!! that's not seattle, it's the republic of fremont. they have a troll too. what does it mean?
  5. gee! go figure! the "extremists" at the new york times are not falling for it either: http://www.nytimes.com/2004/08/10/opinion/10tue3.html could it be that the extreme point of view is to argue for shutting down media when it does not toe the party line? hey stickland: what about these "extreme sources i use routinely"? don't you know how to use the search engine? or are you now playing the "i'll take the high road" on this one? a little late for that.
  6. i am more concerned crashing on my own due to wet/oily pavement or gravel than because of cars (i avoid busy street/roads). since we typically have a fair amount of wet weather outside summer, i tend to think that running is safer despite greater opportunities for joint problems. one major wipe out on a bike has greater chance of cramping your style for a long time than injuring a joint while running would (especially if you run conservatively, i.e. no pavement, stretching, etc ...). however as has been said a combination of both seems to be best.
  7. lame. so you can't come up with one example right off the top of your head? so how does it sit with your contention of extreme bias? extreme sources? like the guardian, the independent, reporters without borders, human rights campaigns, and a boatload of mainstream sources in the us. dude, you are a liar. i am taking a chance by asking you of one instance of my being credulous and the only thing you can do is resort to a dodge? pfft! note: i could counter by citing your own bias but i won't stoop that low.
  8. do you care to substantiate that by giving one factual instance of my being credulous?
  9. upon further consideration i'll take the troll because i believe it is worthwhile to expose your underhanded tactics. 1) i never claimed that news media were objective, on the contrary. imo AJ is pro-arab and it is also one of the best thing going on in the arab world today. it has a cultural, political bias that is to be expected. if it spewed pro-west propaganda 24/24 it would not be anywhere as successful as it is. it is modern and promotes pluralism, which goes a lot further toward establishing democracy in the arab world than anything we have done. 2) i have never referred to anybody as a freedom fighter. in fact, that term came back into vogue when you hypocrites lauded the praises of the coke-smuggling, nurse-raping, teacher-butchering contras during the nicaraguan conflict.
  10. west ridge of stuart (long day) east buttress of big snow (nice rock, 5.7) ne ridge of keyes (great area) west ridge of prusik (5.7, downclimb route) sulphide is fine if one sticks to the left hand side of the glacier (climber's left). the only potentially tricky spot is around the shrund below the summit pyramid. although conditions may vary.
  11. congrats on what appears to be a very successful trip. i am jealous and my hands are sweating. don't be shy, post more pics, pretty please?
  12. wtf? nobody has provided any evidence toward anything. So it's not because some blowhard on some web site wants us to believe that reporting about what's going down somehow amounts to incitement to violence that i am going to run around reaching for conclusions. some of you guys are so credulous it's pathetic. especially considering the history of these allegations and the advantage to be gained by shutting AJ down. it appears some of you have not yet understood that imposing one's propaganda is critical during modern warfare, particularly when it involves squashing an insurgency against foreign occupation. http://www.rsf.org/article.php3?id_article=11115 JayB - f**k off!
  13. hey dimwits - i am going to couch it in terms you can hopefully understand: an hour ago i sat down with friends and had a glass of wine. now, a full 60minutes later i am here reading your inane comments and attempts at demonizing my person. what did i do or think within the last 60 minutes? did i drink more wine? did i have dinner or did i pack for tomorrow? etc ... i expect a full, precise answer as to my whereabouts since this is what you claim you can do. any which one of you two giving the right answer will get a discount coupon for remedial logic class.
  14. how would you know? your brain has been dead for a lot longer than 40mn and we all know what happens just after a few minutes.
  15. he could have done what most people would have done: excuse himself and consult with his staff on an appropriate emergency response. but several people have already told you so in this thread alone so i don't expect it will register ... whatever kerry was discussing, he certainly did not have the inside scoop that bush had, so i don't see what this is all about. i believe you have already made an ass of yourself plenty for today so i'll leave it at that.
  16. can you express any more hate fairweather? good job on showing your true nature ... i find it interesting that when someone calls the hatemongers on their continual bullshit, somehow all hell breaks loose. do you really think we are going to stand still while you spew your venom?
  17. previously cracked said in post #380838: if you did not come up with the 40mn along with the other dim bulbs at newsmax, who the hell is using your account on this board? still laughing? i didn't think so. kerry was discussing what was going on. he was reacting. do you really need further clues? nobody asked bush to come up with the right answer all by himself. people asked for an indication he was reacting to what was going on and collaborating toward the appropriate immediate answer.
  18. are you really a dim bulb or are you simply being disingenious? where does kerry say he could not think for 40mn in the following quote:"we watched the second plane come in to the building. And we shortly thereafter sat down at the table and then we just realized nobody could think, and then boom, right behind us, we saw the cloud of explosion at the Pentagon." do you have a tape of him sitting without reaction and reading my pet goat for 40 mn? no, i didn't think so. do you know what they discussed between the 2 impacts? no, i didn't think so. and you have the gall to attack moore for lack of honesty? what a moron.
  19. yeah, that about sums up your argument big guy ...
  20. kerry never said he couldn't think for 40mn. he said he sat down with others and they discussed how they could not think (which is a figure of speech btw, i don't think they sat there without exchanging ideas for 40mn). then he said the pentagon impact occurred which some bushie figured was 40 mn later. this is characteristic of the disinformation sludge lovers are good at. and to actually see that this is argued by the guy who accuses moore of being unethical.

    El Nino?

el nino (enso) is warm and dry in the pacific northwest but we are also affected by the pdo (pacific decadal oscillation taking place in the north pacific). we are supposed to be in a cold and wet pdo phase (started ~1998). pdo phases last 20-30 years whereas el nino/la nina last a few years at most.
  22. hm ... i didn't know that "now and then" was equivalent to multiple times a day.
  23. KERRY'S MULTIPLE SECRET LOVE CHILDREN it's all true folks. faux news confirmed, so it can only be the truth.
  24. that would be a lot of misquoting or mischevious paraphrasing considering the number of things he is credited with saying for this article. so where is this link?
  25. swift boat "veterans for truth" start to sink
