  1. hi, send me an email(thrashador@homebrew.com) when you can...think I'm going to remain in these parts(pdx) wed. though I'm still very interested in doing some touring...any plans for next week???
  2. Looking for local ski/tele touring partner(s?) to hit interesting routes with this week tues-thur out of Seattle. I know OR and sw WA mainly. Silver Star?
  3. Our group ascended the north ridge and skied the east face from pole ck. friday morning. It was a scorcher and by 9:30 am the goods were nearly cooked. There's still plenty of snow and few holes open save for the baby schrund's at the foot of each face. A crow flies roughly 5.5 miles from pole ck. to the top. It's a solid day or you have lots of timberline snoozing options.
  4. What a whinefest! The USFS is too easy a target. Pick on someone your own size. btw, there's lots of turns to be had in the Sisters. Less people too. Seek and ye shall find. Just don't rely on the government too much; it's a bad habit.
  5. My dog won't stop howling!!! Too mucking fuch.
  6. Belatedly...my vote goes with Sony. Two words: Zeiss glass.
  7. Prolly not fer a week or two would be my guess. I'm outta sight and mind until the end of July and won't be heading up there 'til August. Put down yer pint, drop the remote, and pick up the phone dude: (541) 352.6002.
  8. top sheets clean bases a little scratched no core shots edges great tho who needs 'em on Surfs? $175 for the set including safety straps

  10. quote: Originally posted by b-rock: Trying to avoid any major glacier travel though. [/QB]Either route from Pole Creek involves some glacier travel. Both glaciers, the Dillard and Hayden, are straightforward so long as you start early, steer clear of any holes, and ski what you climb if you're unfamiliar with the terrain. Haven't skied the Sisters yet this plentiful snow year(had a trip planned a week ago Tuesday but the thunder, lightning, and rain kept us home)though even during last year's drought the Hayden and Dillard were relatively harmless in late April early May. If you wish to avoid glaciers alltogether approach from the west side not Pole Creek. Hope this helps. Have a blast out there! [ 06-07-2002, 06:07 PM: Message edited by: Thrashador ]
  11. If time is of concern you might consider reaching the col between n & m sisters and then ascending the n ridge instead of the se ridge; it's a more direct route to the top from pole creek.
