i don't know...one of my best climbing buds (best not necessarily in ability but in terms of favorite) has either won nationals or placed in the top 5, placed 2nd in junior worlds in europe. But this kid digs Indian Creek and Yosemite over everywhere else he has been...Totally favors a weekend cragging trip to squish over going to a gym...prefers index to si and on and on... I think it is more the individual than the activity that is defining...people gravitate towards what they like and prefer so dissing someONE because of what they do is kinda lame.

Seriously, for trad climbing, the absolute best training is to go trad climbing...gym doesn't translate too closely except to sport routes...IMHO

yeah...i saw Choada_Boy over at bartells freaking out trying to return a box of condoms...yelling about inferior protection... he was getting quite upset when the young lady very quietly and discreetly was trying to tell him that perhaps he needed to "downsize" from mediums to small for a proper "fit"...he was getting really irate...started yellin' and shit...the manager came over and said "wow, you are quite intimidating looking for one packing such small gear"...let me get you a fresh box of properly fitted "equipment"...we just got the smalls in!

I am so not looking forward to this stage!! arghhh...good thing one forgets this in time... Another helpful hint...pack lots of various small things to simulate a "poop kit" to take with you where ever you go...I got so that i could change a diaper remarkably fast in all sorts of conditions...its not that bad...but what sucks is having to bring absolutely all sorts of shit and shit related stuff everywhere you go, and the one time you forget something is the one time that you will absolutely need it right then!
