apparently, you need to take a class on how to use a fly swatter...its pretty difficult, and i hear that the exam at the end is ruthless...

since when does a 17-year-old male have common sense? common sense with regards to life? Maybe not, but with regards to the nuts-and-bolts of climbing...it ain't that hard for some one with an iq above double digits...

are you kidding me??? You don't have the mental capacity to teach yourself climbing??? Good god, its not that difficult...

...actually, that is pretty much how i learned...at 17 to boot...it isn't rocket science, nor hard if you have any common sense...

especially when compared to just following good climbers for pitch after pitch and getting pushed by them on stuff....

honestly, the mounties will just hold you up once you've hit a certain level...and you'll have to put up with all of their dogma crap about thus and such... you are far better off taking DirtyHarry's suggestion and hooking up with skilled climbers to learn from...save your money, put it towards a gym membership and hook up with partners there...

slabby is irrelevant if talking about pure crack climbing...ie, your talking about foot placement in cracks and jamming in cracks...so the slabbier the easier in pure crack climbing... face is different; however, this topic is about CRACK... when exactly do you highstep in a crack? regarding your onsighting "harder" in one place or another could just mean that the ratings are not correlated between the areas...or another way of putting it is that a squamish "5.10a" is really just an index 5.9 in disguise...blah blah blah

hmmm...some of the basalt areas in central oregon are ALL jamming with no feet/features...if anything granite offers smears etc....
