bad thing about the VW van - engine in back means accelerator cable along base to front means frozen cable in winter! Our bus cable froze on the way to the Wallowas and had to constantly reach down and pull the accelerator back up to slow down. annoying to say the least
I'd say the Legacy L, at least, is underpowered in every department. No experience with the Outback's larger engine. The ground clearance on the L is unacceptable for mountain use IMHO.
I see, I was wheeling around in a 1999 legacy and th cupholder thing was driving me insane. I require coffee. I require music. Is it too much to ask to have both at the same time
Wild Things are way over-priced. If you can survive the bill though they are not bad. I have broken one zipper and ripped out one strap on mine but I routinely over-load the thing. They place weight over durability on zippers, so they are flimsy little things.
Interior noise is definitely louder in Tacomas than in 4runners. 4runners have a lot of frou-frou crap that I don't need, especially now. the new 4runner looks like crap in my opinion. I don't like all the plastic showing up on car panels these days. I am 6'0 and have had no legroom issues. Get the V6, my 4 cylinder is underpowered like most toyotas (besides the tundra). even the V6 is weak but has a smoother ride.

I was referring to motor oil, as in it disappears with astonishing quickness in the saabs I've been around

I know a couple women who hunt from my home town who would most likely kick your ass when it comes to hunting things. But maybe you didn't mean it that way.

Scott has become such an institution of this board that it would be hard to imagine the site without him. I don't mind the occasional jabs at the Muir hut and cougar stuff, but I'm not him. Just like the odd jab at Lambone, the todd-tex two-timer. He (I think) knows it's only in fun (at least when I say it). Gets way out of hand at times though. It also gets a little old.
