    Good 'ol Boy List

don't you mean good 'ol boy list? p.s. no one really cares about your list. is this to get into some kind of treehouse or something?
  2. This doesn't have anything to do with being PC. It has to do with staying alive while getting around on a bike, w/o being subjected to ~$200 tickets and oblivious drivers. I would also note it is difficult to get through that area safely and legally, apart from heading for the sidewalk, which is not legal and pisses off pedestrians. This is the best alternative though, since it sucks to piss off the bus drivers if they are there, as they are just doing their job and are for the most part cool.
  3. I think the legislation will answer any questions you might have, as you don't seem to trust anything I say: House Bill 2768 It flew through the house already, in the Senate at present.
  4. I hesitate to continue since I feel like I'm pointing out the obvious, but... How many people are biking out there in comparison to cars? How many people have been killed by being run over by a bike? How often do you see traffic congestion where it is stop and go bike traffic? per capita, how likely is a car-related death versus other means? Bikes and cars are not the same. If bikes are on the street, they need to obey the traffic laws if they want to act like a car, as most car drivers are totally oblivious to their presence. However, IF YOU ACTUALLY COMMUTED you would know that there are certain exceptions THAT WOULD BE REASONABLE to make for bikers WHO ARE TRYING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE and make the community A MORE LIVABLE PLACE. And yes, police distracted on stupid bike infractions THAT CAUSE NO HARM TO ANYONE means less police attention to more important crime around the city.
  5. I was just thinking it's hot and south-facing with no water as it is with the limited trees there, I can only imagine how bad it would be with cinders everywhere and no trees. Just hot hot hot.
  6. sphinx would you rather have crack dealers or bikers periodically biking in an empty bus lane in your neighborhood? btw are you actually on crack?
  7. hopefully the legislation in congress right now will allow bikes to coast through stop signs at the very least. it only makes sense at the thousands of empty 4-way intersections around here.
  8. this from my mailing list:
  9. and all the santiam pass ski patrol stuff in cinders, and a good friend of mine's small cabin there well there will be faster access to mt. washington, just like back in the day after the Big Lake fire. The TFJ approach could be a Bataan death march now though.
  10. That's fine, and I understand what you mean. But do your casual conversations have observers numbering in the thousands and involve accusing world power players of nuclear development? Generally I would speak more carefully in those circumstances. And I would say his little blurb is cavalier, at best, if not a deliberate lie. It becomes more glaring today as we still wait for the evidence to arrive. I believe it will arrive, but it will fall far short of what has been drilled home by our president's cabinet.
  11. Puget, the fact is, it was spoken, I saw the interview, and for something of that magnitude to be said and not corrected, well I guess it's all Russert's fault then. "We know that based on intelligence that he has been very, very good at hiding these kinds of efforts. He’s had years to get good at it and we know he has been absolutely devoted to trying to acquire nuclear weapons. And we believe he has, in fact, reconstituted nuclear weapons. I think Mr. ElBaradei (Atomic Energy Commission) frankly is wrong." That's good enough for me, from seeing the interview, and I am certain Cheney chose the word "reconstituted", often used incorrectly but interchangeably with "refined" or "reprocessed" carefully for the added effect of the potential mislead.
  12. all I was saying is if it's way past spec, it's like arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. It just doesn't matter.
  13. did you know panic attacks are named after Pan? goes back to people walking in the woods at night and getting scared for no reason, as Pan is everywhere in nature.
  14. the question is, who's on the cover?
  15. Bush's poor grammar, misplaced metaphors, and overall lack of command of the language are only embarrassments to US citizens abroad. What is more important is the flat-out lying (or at best, lack of mutual understanding) going on in the administration about important things, such as: "I don't believe anyone that I know in the administration ever said that Iraq had nuclear weapons." —Donald Rumsfeld, Senate appropriations subcommittee 5/14/03 "We believe he has, in fact, reconstituted nuclear weapons." —Dick Cheney, Meet the Press, 3/16/03 ...WTF? and this is not lying about banging the intern in the oval office, it's about nuclear holocaust
  16. I assume you have all steel carabiners as well then, as they are more durable?
  17. If the test was a single run until failure it doesn't give you any idea about durability. What are you talking about.
  18. I don't see what this proves. That's like saying the bolt in my crampon will shear before a tine breaks off if I applied that much force. Nevermind that my lower leg would be severed first. Generally I avoid factor-2'ing off my ice tools
  19. how about hoodoo and more specifically those small buildings on the road into hoodoo on the left??? are they doing structural pro on those, or are they out of harm's way (or are they ashes now )
  20. he's probably in "The Timberline Sessions" timberline sessions qt

    figured out

"I don't believe anyone that I know in the administration ever said that Iraq had nuclear weapons." —Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, Senate appropriations subcommittee on defense, 5/14/2003 "I think what we need to do is convince people who live in the lands they live in to build the nations. Maybe I'm missing something here. I mean, we're going to have kind of a nation-building corps from America? Absolutely not." Gov. Bush 10/11/2000
  22. I wonder if gw will get breakfast at the redmond Big O tomorrow
