  1. But apart from the subjective appearance features that make an "assault weapon" in the bill, would you agree that clips of less than 10 rounds is a reasonable request for a civilian semi-automatic weapon?
  2. the "assault weapon" ban is a little weak since there are certainly semi-automatics out there w/o grenade launchers, bayonets, or pistol grips (what are the other features? suppressing?) would be nice if they revised it based on function. but it will probably be sunsetted next year w/o a better option in place.
  3. ...and the answer to my original "know-it-all sh*thead 'tude question, thanks.
  4. your cellphone is inside a giant faraday shield when you are in an airplane. you'd have a hard time keeping a conversation. Also, modern digital phones broadcast at very low wattage since they are designed for operating in a forest of cell towers. I believe this is why you can be up on a mountain and get great coverage according to the phone's "bars" as it picks up transmissions from a tower, but the second you try to make a call out, it drops the connection.

    Any Mars Watchers?

So, this resort for women could be packed full of hot naked chicks, or a bunch of high-maintenance cows with bad breath... Camp Pleiades

    Any Mars Watchers?

Some Native Americans thought the Pleiades were 6 wives who ate a bunch of onions and were thrown out the hut by ticked off husbands. Go figure.

  12. he was assigned to fix the megamid pole
  13. that sucks.
  14. aren't those usually steel or something? stuff's rated to like 40kN. I'd worry more about the roof collapsing.
  15. If you're not going on expeditions or working in the backcountry, W. First Responder is prob. overkill. It's expensive and time-consuming, though it is fairly comprehensive. Unfortunately half of the stuff you learn to treat relies on a rapid evac. So you have someone in big trouble on a big mountain, the difference between WFA and WFR is that both know the guy's in deep, but the WFR knows why. (You realize the guy's got increasing ICP via BP and attitude, but what really are you going to do with your WFR skills? Cut a hole in his skull?) WMI or WMA's WFA is a good 3-day course.

  18. Since the act was rushed into law within 1 month after 9/11, with absolutely minimal debate, perhaps he feels that support has waned. Personally I don't want the FBI to be able to walk around wiretap regulations because of a hunch, which seems to be a component of the act. I also am pretty concerned about their Carnivore system on the internet. They're using it as a way to preserve "freedom" whatever that is, but it seems like that's exactly what we're giving up. I can see serious opposition to these changes, both from republicans and democrats. I think people might consider it pretty knee-jerk, now that they look back at it, when back in 2001 people were pretty terrified.

  20. quit bragging about your jugs or who you lay back with this weekend
  21. anything to add about how to get a new mid pole, or do you want to spray about your pole-snapping storm you rode out tough guy? the online hardman routine gets old. what a waste.
  22. Obviously you can't read since I didn't imply anything. I flat-out said I'm surprised, since my megamid ripped in winds before the pole broke tough guy.
  23. I didn't say anything about any storm. I said the material in the tent would seem to be the first thing to go.
  24. Man I can't believe the pole broke. Was there a change in poles on the megamid? Mine's pretty burly and I would see the tent shredding before it broke. Trekking poles are too short for sure, unless you want a large rock or something in the middle of your 'mid.
