    BEST MARTINI

This is what I believe to be true, Mattp. I know vodka needs to be cold, cold, cold (think, invented in Siberia). Brandy, I think, needs air and warmth to expand its flavor; much like port. I'm not too hot on Brandy, but I know it is served room temp and you need to cup the snifter in your hand so your body heat warms the liquid. When are we all getting together at Mattp's new house for a sampler party? Bring your favorite and a box of Triscuits!!!

Matt; Muffy's post just reminded me: Keep your vodka in the freezer and it will be colder than the ice. This will keep it from melting in the shaker.

There isn't a single thing truthful in that show. I've read this, too, Matt. However, experts state that the ice and vodka are not in contact for too terribly long and thus it isn't a concern.
  5. 12-gauge with double-ought buckshot. Some people I know load rock salt and have this in the chamber, followed by 00-buckshot in the magazine. The thinking here is that the rock salt will scare them off but won't kill them; if they are wacked out and keep coming you've got some serious ammo behind it to knock them down with. There are some camps that espouse a lighter shot to get a better pattern in the short distance, but I don't think it matters.

I'll check my bar book when I get home and see what it says. It didn't seem to make sense when I read it, but something about the ice being part of the suspension versus the stirring implement acting on the mix in a pugilistic manner.

Okay, so I'm not insane. Well, okay, maybe I am. That's cool. I wonder how they deal with the water that seems to constantly stream out of there. Is it still in use?

I thought the stuff at Index was testing mining equipment or something. Don't know why I thought that.
  9. Yes, Ade, a shotgun is the preferred weapon for home defense. Preferably a pump model. The sound of a shell being jacked into the chamber inside an enclosed space like a room has a distinctive sound and has been know to give would-be thiefs pause.

Always vodka for 007. Shaken, not stirred; the act of stirring with a stirring stick is known to "bruise" the vodka.

That does sound good. Has anyone had Absolut Currant? Wonder how it tastes mixed and how.

Crime Lab in Vancouver has a wonderful array of martinis; something with melon in it sent me a-staggering one misty night.
  15. Most wheel guns (revolvers) are rather large and don't carry well. They are kind of wide and the hammer catches on clothing. Plus you only have 6 shots. .357 and .44 are for the bedside table.
  16. I like both. I always seem to find a placement for my TCU's and/or my two Aliens on multi-pitch climbs. I have large hands and sometimes I find the TCU's difficult to work the trigger on; don't have this problem with Aliens.
  17. The first lesson in placing bolts should be to go to Darrington and climb with Mattp and DavidW and see how far apart bolts really should be.
  18. Too much foreplay and that gun might go off prematurely, minxy...
  19. I work for the Trilateral Commission and am forwarding your comments to the head of our security department. You will be visited to discuss your "views" in detail.
  20. That sounds like if they can't offer money that will attract good judges to stay, they will go where the money is. Just like everyone else.
  21. Way to drink in the liberal media's diet of lies and misinformation, Erik. Frankly, I expected better.
  22. Shut up. Dick.
  23. Concentrated, organized, vocal protest to your Senators and Congressmen will get the message to the President, believe me. By the looks of that poll, GW better mop up quick in Iraq and get back to dealing with domestic issues or he will make the same mistake George The Elder made prior to '92.
  24. Aren't you still in high school? You have the advantage.
  25. She probably wouldn't even notice your tiny peepee when it entered her. Word is the Mrs. is pretty good with the tweezers and magnifying glass!
