    Ice tools??

I'd highly recommend the Alp Wing. They were perfect for bushwacking and stumbling through devils club boulderfields on Saturday. And then when we stopped below the face to listen to the copious rockfall, the were just what I needed to sit on
  2. I personally love rockfall at five AM before the sun has even come up. Forget the alpine, I'm going to the beach.
  3. Man that line on Gilbert looks nice. Friendly giant right skyline? Mmmmm, south face.
  4. Was Down's "Weart Remover" in 2001? I believe so. Guy Edward's solo line as well? Ooo I pissed the climbing counter off BIG TIME looking for Tremor: They gave up looking, the dumbasses I had to walk them throught the dam book: "okay after NE Settler, no, before E buttress Settler &c., &c.

  6. Dru, where is the write-up (if any) for the w. pillar of Gilbert. This is on same feature as Friendly Giant? I do believe Croft did some speedy solo stuff on Combatant: www.thenorthface.com Wouldn't Bear direct be V not IV? There is also Connie's route on Tremor, supposedly 5.7 I thought Dionne direct was 16 pitches in MEC book? Good on ya for steppin up to the bat

  13. GPS on icefield traverses in BC=essential (got my ass off of Columbia) GPS on most weekend tours=marginal utility as valleys on Coast are narrow enough to always have a terrain sixth sense and below treeline aint worth sqwat GPS for mountaineering=forget it
  14. I do believe you are correct sir. Can anyone confirm or refute?

    MMMM Yummy!

This would be to replace the sack of sauce in the preexisting can of meat?
  19. Boysnow: Anybody ever done a winter ascent of the south ridge ya figure? Saw a picture of it once caked in rime and the upper bits looked cool all glazed over like a frosty cake MMmmmm
  20. Pub Club tomorrow night if anyone's around at the Pub. Could be a decent day of craggin seen as how the hills look quite murderous right now
  21. I prodealed a Mtn Hardware Conduit job and it totally sucks for vapour dispersion as the bottom, like most bivy sacks, is PU coated nylon. THE BEST WAY TO GO is with MEC's emperor Penguin overbag as the whole thing is Dryloft and the synthetic layer will wick most H2O out of a down bag. Mind you, it can't stand in for a tent like the Integral Designs unishelter, which I have found is actually quite useful here and there.
  22. I was worried there for a while, my tradition of Diamond Head on Xmas eve with stout and scotch was looking like a non event! I'll be passed out in the Red Heather hut on the 24th if anyone's looking for trouble
  23. "Beckey says it's the most obvious line up the Grand Wall but statistics indicate a popularity nosedive." GS 1975 Viking helmets mandatory:
